As with most people at present i have a lot of spare time to potter about on the van. I am posting in the Fiat section as my van isn't among the listings as i have a Moncayo Mediteranneo 765. Whilst tidying up the skirts, resealing and spray painting them i noticed a round black hose like cable with a toggle attached to what appears to be a cap that is reluctant to come off, i don't want to force it in case i damage it, on the rear there are some wires going into it then they disappear into a shroud that then goes somewhere into the van. Does anybody have an idea what this may be, i have a feeling it may be some kind of external electrical output??. Any ideas as to what it actually is would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Ste.

Pic' would be good but possible that it is an external socket for a water pump to fill tank from water hog.

LPG filler??

Need a pic.

Bulgin are a connector manufacturer they make hundreds of different plugs an sockets. Probably not original fit.

No brownie points for that photo.
I think you need to trace where the wires come from to it.

As someone else said, my guess would be a bike security connection. Which Thatcham alarm system do you have? Then check with them about the fitting.

looks like an external 12v socket to me, but the photo is not great

Assuming you aren't the original owner I wonder if a previous one had one of the following:
  • a lighting board for a rear bike rack which was powered from the socket
  • an power socket for plugging in an electrical appliance, eg a water pump for use with an Aquarol
  • an external aerial socket or sat dish connector to save having to put the cable through a window
  • an input for a portable solar panel
