Sat on Gravelines, waiting for tunnel am tomorrow and thinking about our trip. Pretty eventful what with destroying the gearbox and the exhaust system breaking in half but that's all part of traveling and makes for good stories later.
Every trip usually throws up a surprise or two not always what you expect.
Used Acsi sites and Aires everywhere and found a couple of fantastic sites one in Potes in Picos De Europa and one in Campello between Benidorm and Alicante.
However we also found one of the worst sites we've stayed on in 10 years traveling.
Someone recently suggested Sitges was better for visiting Barcelona than Villanova. So as we were going through and find Villanova a bit too big and commercial ee thought we'd try it out.
Big Mistake
Sitges near Barcelona can only be described as a dirty filthy hovel. Litter everywhere which attracted thousands of flies. Only 1 toilet block of 3 working the other 2 out of order and it was so disgusting it was a health risk just walking in. Totally disinterested staff who appeared to resent the guests. One half of the site was the usual Spanish ghetto but just dirtier than usual.
The final insult was being told if I wanted water it had to come from the WC cassette disposal tap. Also crazily the most expensive site on the trip.
We almost refused to pay and made a official complaint which was just shrugged off with heard it all before mate.
So be warned Villanova may be a bit commercial but it's worth 10 of Sitges.
