As you know since first visiting Shrewsbury for your ' messing about on the river ' rally, its become one of my favourite places so i'll really miss it,

Just crossing the channel on way back home and waiting for a reply from a company that offers Canoe, Kayak and SUP hire and tuition from the Showground, hopefully they will do a canoe trip like we have done before, if not I and sure the guys we used last time will do it but you are right we need some more volunteers

We are going to be parked in and around the Arena so that Robin meanders can set up his sound gear so we will be a little further away from the water than previously but yes anybody who wants to bring their own craft can do so and we can have a bit of a come and try it session.

I have had a reply from the watersports people re the Canoeing from Shrewsbury, they are offering a trip from the showground downstream which is different to previous years when we have done Montford Bridge and finished at the showground.

The first part is a loop around the town so you see Shrewsbury from a different angle, then the weir oh they say we have to get out and walk around it the guys from the hire place will be there to assist and get everybody around safely, we then make our own way downstream through the meanders of the river Severn as it travels through fields and countryside, we will have a choice of pick up points at either 9.5 miles or 12.5 miles, don't worry it's all downhill so easy enough.

I don't know about minimum numbers yet but need to see if we can get any more takers

When considering numbers, Hilary and I will not take up the canoeing offer. One of us is not a competent swimmer and doesn't like the water, and the other has terrible balance.

A short river cruise on a larger vessel is about as far as we would get.

Well Robin and Hilary, being a swimmer is not a pre requisite of the canoeing trip, people don’t get wet on my trips,

I think if Kerry came, I'd be lucky to do 9.5 feet .
So, yes I'd need someone to take her for a quick toilet break.
Perhaps I should opt out.
