Hi Everyone! It's my first time here and I need your help :) My husband and I are currently searching for a used motorhome for our family and we came across a company called Hague Motors. The company seems to have excellent motorhomes for sale at astonishingly low prices. I filled out a form on their website and received a reply the next working day. It turns out the prices exclude VAT (20%) as these vehicles are re-possessed from people who unable to continue their leaseback contracts. Even with added 20% the motorhome we are interested in works out 4-5k (!!) LESS than on any other website. It seems too good to be true to me.

I asked to view the vehicle but it isn't possible - the company advised they closed their warehouses and staff is working from home due to Covid. They can deliver the motorhome to my address for a fee (£150) and I can return it within 48hrs if I don't want it (for any reason). But I need to pay for it first - bank transfer only (I asked about the credit card). I can't find any reviews on this company. Their emails seem to be 'copy and paste' and contain grammar mistakes. So many red flags - what do you think?

Thank you in advance!
Kaja

I think you already know but would like to think otherwise!. I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. They might also have a Nigerian relative who will put a lot of money in your bank account if you give them all your details and passwords.

If you have to ask, you know. Would you hand over that amount of cash without surveying the vehicle yourself?

Definitely a scam.

Agree with everything said but just done a Google on them and the actual company looks legit.

Hague motors limited looks like a different company

Having a polished website does not mean they are legitimate, personally I wouldn't entertain any company that wouldn't let me inspect a vehicle before putting a deposit down.

Never part with any money in this way.
One recommended way of avoiding such a scam is to ask the seller to take you round the vehicle in a live 2 way WhatsApp video conversation. Only a genuine seller will cooperate in this arrangement.

I know this mate and I wouldn't part with any money till I had had a test run and sitting in it with the key in my hand, just saying there looks to be a legit company with that name.

I’ve just had a look.
they exist as per their website on companies house. Ltd company, incorporated in 2003, with accounts filed.
must admit though it looks like a scam

Scammers have cloned the legit company details, built a website, and are now waiting for unwary punters to fall into their grubby mits.

The company address is also a serviced office used by multiple businesses and probably a mail drop or forwarding site for them.

Every photo of their 29 caravans and 58 m/homes on their website seems to have been taken at a different location which tells me the photos may be cribbed from elsewhere, e.g. eBay ads.
Seems odd too if, (as they say), they have 'warehouses'.

Highly likely. All the website details are 2022, not 2003 or any date in between

100% a scam.

If you go to the second hand Hymers for sale, and put in the reg number of one of them into google images.
<Broken link removed> is the actual company that sold it recently!

If you are offering money for a 2nd hand motorhome I have an offshore bank account .........
