No grab bag?

Two fire extinguishers, with one in the bedroom. One fire blanket. One propane gas alarm. One carbon monoxide alarm. Two smoke alarms, with one in the bedroom. One large, home made, first aid kit, in a small cantilever tool box, under the lift up King sized bed. There is a awful lot under that bed.:clap2:

Perhaps the most important thing is a written down plan of action and escape plan that everybody understands, knows by heart and is practiced before each trip. Basically, you are not trained to fight a fire, particularly if you have kiddies, get out and get away. Let it burn, it’s insured. We are lucky in that on ours, the bedroom window, by turning four leavers, can be completely removed and allowed to drop out, which leaves a nice big hole to get out with. :gum:

Now, tell me please why you drilled a hole to bang in a screw for the fire blanket. Naughty, naughty, boy, I would have used something like this. There is usually another way, to fix, hang etc without drilling holes in those full cabinets. :emo:

Not really in keeping with a van that has had its mastic touched up. Tut tut. :whistle2:

OK simple
Smoke and Gas detector
CO detector in main salon

Fire blanket in door pocket of hab door as it is opposite the gas stoke

Powder extinguisher for engine
Foam extinguisher for hab area kitchen

behind the drivers seat for speed access

don’t forget your hi viz jackets in France you are not allowed out of the vehicle at the roadside without them ??

I also think you need more than 1 CO monitor in longer MH’s depending mainly on where the gas burners are, we have one in bedroom area over the Alde, then another in the living area near fridge and hob ?

Thanks for the link, I do use those for pictures and have had a couple come crashing down, my fault for thinking I could get away with 2 instead of 4 :) I chose that wood screw as it has a nice rough thread and that keeps the fire blanket on, the hole is only small and even with hooks they swing around, that seemed to be the perfect spot as its up against the motorhome sides no swinging, also easy access to the pull cords.

Fires are the ultimate nightmare, one reason I didn't get the Burstner 744 with the front double drop down electric bed that covered the hab door, how the hell would you get out if there was a fire, the rear drop down bed was surrounded by net type curtains with poles through that dropped down with it so you couldn't get out the back either, all these things have been part of my risk assessment when searching for the right van (y)

Yes got the high viz and don't forget they should be within reaching distance, same with spare glasses if you use them ;) All my appliances are mid ship so my one CO monitor is fine, but good point for those that have it both ends.

CO & Smoke detectors in bedroom area. Fire extinguisher near driver's door, fire blanket in recess by hab door. First aid kit in cupboard under bed or in washroom - must check.
Hi Viz vests under drivers seat, 2 warning triangles in garage.

In the event of a fire I think my first action would be to bail out, rub hands with glee looking forward to new van after insurance pay out.:D2

I have had a Sprinkler System fitted in mine.If a fire breaks out it automatically cuts in extinguishes the fire and alerts me on my phone and shows me a video of the scene. Its bloody magic.BUSBY??

Where do you keep your life raft?

Which is next to the Jacobs ladder.

We have 3 extinguishers, hab door, passenger door and garage. fire blanket, co & smoke detectors. lpg detector and freezer gloves in the gas locker. first aid kit (human) in van and toad, first aid kit (dog) in van, smaller dog kit in scooter. hi viz jackets by passenger door, in toad and on scooter. spare dog leads and collars by hab door and in toad. hi viz dog harnesses by hab door. torches in various places round the van.... just the basics really

oh and tow straps, D shackles and sand ladders in side belly locker

CO and smoke alarms. Don’t bother with a first aid kit. Extinguisher the same, I will just be letting it burn and get everyone out safely.
I do carry the yellow vests though and a warning triangle.
The spare wheel too, I actually see that as a safety item, chucking it on in minutes means less time spent on the hard shoulder.

I keep my helmet by my crayons.......

Did your risk assessment look at the question of getting gassed in France ?

Firstly I don't believe the gassing nonsense and secondly where we go is not that sort of place (y)

tell us where you go and then maybe we all will go there.
