On the ferry now :)

Going to spend the day and night on the north French coast. Beginning to sink in now that the slog is over and from now on there is no rush. Magic!

I anticipated it for years, yearned, ached for it. When it came, it was much better than I anticipated.

Welcome to the club, I wish you all you wish for yourself

Went for a walk along the beach to the local town Wissant. A beautiful walk with the sea and all the muscle trunks but it was much further than it looked on the map, was knackered last night, in bed by 9pm!

Sunrise in Northern France.

Breakfast, another walk on the beach then off to a snail farm

... where the pace of life is even slower. ;)

It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it? It will recede as time goes by and it becomes your normal way of living but it never goes away. There will be many moments when you find yourself thinking how good it is to have time to enjoy things because work no longer drives your days. :)

Safe travels.

The SatNav didn't like the coordinates I punched in for a snail farm, sent us into Belgium a few times, we gave up and went for Lille. Nice town but very wet today so on to Parfondeval, one of France's Beau Villages, then on to Reims tonight.

Went to Mirmande yesterday. A stunning medieval village on a hill south of Lyon.

IMG_20180314_075618.jpg

No problem parking for the night. There are 3 carparks. Easyist one to get to is not on Park4Night. It's coordinates are N44.696627 E4.83768. It's next to the church at the top of the village.

We are in Avignon tonight, was a glorious day today had the awning out now it refuses to wind in. Have to get the ladders and WD40 out tomorrow.

Am in Tuscany at the moment and I have to say Italy is a nightmare for motorhomes. If you think the UK is bad for potholes we have nothing on Italy and the standard of driving is appalling; they seem to be addicted to overtaking, even on blind bends. can't wait to get back to France.

Country itself is fabulous.

Its the late Sunday evenings after a good weekend with friends and family that you will like the best during the early days of retirement.

Due to habit for a few seconds - you think its work in the morning - then the brain kicks in and reminds you that you are now retired and no more work on Monday mornings.

Good luck and enjoy every minute of your retirement.
..I've been retired finally about 5 years now ....but on a Sunday evening I still feel very lucky to be retired..... and enjoying life to the full....despite the arthritis:D2

The motorway I was on was riddled with potholes, doesn't help that our Hymer's suspension is very firm

Don't forget in Greece you will notice they use the hard shoulder as a extra lane so don't be surprised, beautiful country but take great care if you go into Athens lots of pick pockets and they are not particularly discreet. Still a beautiful country to tour as is Italy.

How dare you retire!

Someone has to keep working and paying for our pension!

Seriously, retirement is the best job we have ever had. Enjoy every minute and don’t put anything off until later. Many of our friends have not had a “later”.

You only get one go at life, live it to the full.(y)

Too true. I count myself as very fortunate to have made it safely to retirement and with a decent pension. Many people I know have worked just as hard but like has been cruel to them.
