I have a Hymer camp 55 1994, and have broken the small window (9 1/2" X 24 1/2") in the Luton above the cab. I priced the replacemant from Brownhills and got a quote of 436 British pounds plus VAT. I need a recycled unit. I think the following units have the same window 1992 - 94 Hymer models 51,52,55,56,64. Any help would be appreciated.

Why not just get a piece of glass cut and fitted in the existing frame, toughened of course.

Was that for a "double-glazed" perspex unit?

I'm sure I've seen them somewhere.

Try ringing O'learys. They may be able to help you.

:Eek!::Eek!::Eek!:
They having a laugh or what???? Or maybe they still haven't woken up to the fact there is a world wide recession with business's going to the wall. At silly prices like this i'm hardly surprised.

Try Makrolon....extremely strong and virtually indestructable. It has a wide and diverse range of use from the building trade to race track saloon cars (not allowed to use glass).

For the small amount you need, you might even drop lucky and find a local trader who uses sheets of it and will have plenty of off-cuts. So you could end up getting a piece for less than a fiver.

someone started a thread a while ago asking how the motorhome manufacturers could warrant asking £40-£50 thousand for a motorhome........well i hope that person see's this post.
should explain how!!!!!

Hi eddodson & Roger, you cannot cut toughened glass :thumb::Rofl1: but could easy cut normal and send it to the tuffy makers :Rofl1: loads of double glazed unit makers could do this for a very small price :thumb: Tuffy glass is about £45 per sq mtr as a double glazed unit so a single would be half that or less :thumb:

errrrrrrm.......nope.

The guy had a quote of £436 + vat for a piece of glass 2ft long by 10".

Even Titanium steel wouldn't cost that!

Toughened glass comes in the W cat so is ok :thumb::Rofl1: You could also cut a cardboard /paper patern and let them cut you a piece of laminated glass ,but it is not as easy as 4 or 6 mmm plain and sent to tougheners :thumb:

Just out of interest Terry, do they mark it as toughened/BS kitemark or other?

Steve.

Hi Steve all tuffy comes with kitemark :thumb: If you have a D/g unit makers nearby they ALL have access to a tougheners so if you take a patten in they turn it around in about 4 days ish ie, give patt they send it in 4 days later they should return it.:thumb:

edit You may have to find a friendly d/g maker as some will not deal with public, having said that money talks

I have a problen with my Fiat Ducato Auto-trail 15, MWB Riviera. The windows at the front and side of the cab are pretty poor and I'd like to replace them both. The unit sits on a Greek Island as we chat and I dont have the exact measurements. They are about 700mm x 300mm. I have recieved a window from ebay that looks slightly too big and it is also double skinned which mine are not. i am pretty confident that I could fit this window with modifications but would rather just find replacements.

Where were these windows made? I am pretty sure its in Italy?
Is there a motorhome breakers yard in the UK?
Does anyone have a Riviera who wouldnt mind giving me exact measurements of these windows.
Better still if anyone is local to Teesside and has the same unit and wouldnt mind me taking a look at how this window would look that would be great. Removing the window is pretty straight forward and takes minutes.

Also I have an issue with a broken wetroom 'mushroom' roof vent that also needs a replacement. Pics enclosed.

any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

I leave for Greece on the 9th July.
