I'm planning to fit new brake pads over the winter.
Does anyone know if Hymer fitted uprated or larger brakes or will they be standard Fiat ?
Looking on euro car parts website the description gives a payload for the front pads at 1800kg which seems odd.
Any tips for ordering the correct ones gratefully received (y)

Standard Fiat, I don't like Eurocarparts site, but yeah try a local car parts supplier.

Euro are ok for some items.

Part of the same group is carparts4less and cheaper than Euro 😊

I find GSF helpful to confirm what you need and then order online.

When I did a search recently I discovered that there were about half a dozen makes of Callipers & Pads available.
For my van year 2017/18 2.3Ltr 150PS it seems there are two types of calliper/pad on offer, "The Light Chassis" variant which has a single piston calliper, & "The Heavy Chassis" which has a dual piston Calliper.
Both have the same size brake disk of 300mm, so an upgrade for me when needed is to fit the Dual Piston "Heavy Chassis" Calliper/pad set, which IMHO it should have anyway running at 3850G's.
There are also Brenbo uprated disks, but I think the dual pot callipers with pads to match would be sufficient.
Hope That helps.

I bought Mintex disc’s and pads off eBay and had a problem with pads squealing, contacted Mintex and they sent stick-on anti squeal shims for free, which sorted it.
Best measure you discs to be sure.

I got my brake parts from these.

they list a lot more detail than most when listing the items, such as calliper manufacture, wheel size, disc size. They also do a good range including some quality manufactures
Liked the detail, when i got to "correct" model.Typing in reg no is pointless for at least 2 years i got "number doesn't exist" now i mostly get not known or occasionaly Fiat Rapido and no info. this site thinks Ive got a Tipo. I'm not the only one?

Just replaced the front pads on my Ducati heavy duty chassis so 16” wheels and twin pot Brembo calipers genuine Brembo pad set from Euro Car Parts £66

I use AutoDoc for most general spares.
Where possible I use CoastalMororhomes - sometimes phone to make sure it’s the correct part. Great service.
I use EuroCarParts less and less - too many wrong parts.

Might be a silly question, please bear with me.
The brakes on my van have never been that good, even from brand new, never inspired me with any confidence. I have had it on the MOT rolling road 2 or 3 times since new, and it passed its brake test under load conditions...on paper.
The van is on 16" Alloy wheels, so I presume has 300mm disks (which I will check next spring)
I am also assuming that as it has the light chassis, that it probably has single pot brake callipers, despite the vans max weight at 3850KG's (again I will check this also in the spring)
My thinking is, I will if single pot are discovered, upgrade to dual pot callipers, and appropriate sized brake pads, even fit uprated scored disks if that is necessary.
My question is: will I need to change the Calliper Cradles, are they different for bolt spacing for single or dual pot callipers?
The reason I ask is that I haven't seen different sized Calliper Cradles mentioned for single/dual pot callipers as yet, so maybe the bolt spacings are the same? Thought I would check with you knowledgeable guys 1st.(y)
Many thanks.

The standard callipers are 2 pot as far as I'm aware.

I am hoping that is the case Paul, if so then I need to look at better brake pads than the OE fitted, or indeed maybe better disks.
I wont know for definite until I get a wheel off the front, so will be none the wiser until next spring.
Its confusing as suppliers list light chassis as having single pot callipers, and heavy as having dual pot, some even mention dual pot callipers for 3500KG vans and other dual pots for 4000KG's.
Thanks anyhow. (y)

Les. Check your pcd on your wheels..
118 pcd are used on a light chassis…
130 pcd are used on a heavy chassis.

PCD….. pitch circle diameter of the wheel bolts..

I have an A class on a light chassis with 280 mm dia discs and 2 pot calipers and are poor brakes in the mountains etc not up to the job in my opnion, i read somewhere 280 mm discs are for up to 3500 kg and 15 inch wheels i run at 3700 plus and Rapido have clapped 16 inch wheels on so i dont expect any improvement it is what it is.

Having messed around with pads calipers and discs for years on my track car the concenus of opinion seems to be that....

1. Discs make no difference to the quality of braking. Buy the cheapest solid discs available.
2. Bigger calipers, 2 pots etc really only improved brake fade/boiling fluid with long hard use as they dissapate the heatbetter. Theo not improve barke performance. When it comes down to it you still only have the same bit of rubber contacting the road.
3. Brake pads are where it's at. These can vary in bite, feel, dust and longevity. Start with pads before touching anything else. It will probably be all you need to do.

Cargo, Festival trade park. Just down the road from you, think about replacing disc's.

Looking at brake Brembo pads, there seems to be options.
Anyone know what the difference is and which will be correct ones for my B544 at 3900 kg.
TIA

They must be for the light chassis my Hymer front axle is 2300 kg.

I've had a couple of light chassis vans the brakes on the heavy chassis are a lot better.

Just fitted brembo front discs and pads £ 83.00 GSF motor spares.
Can you recall which option you went for and what weight is your van ?
Disks on the way from GSF but pads out of stock with them :(

Hi, The discs were bre09.8931.20 £22:48, brake pads bre23144 £46:64 all plus vat. The van is 3700kg on a light chassis 16" wheels. Bill

Yes discs wear out just like the pads that's why I change them as well.
If not 100% sure I would buy both sets and take the wrong ones back. No problem getting a refund.
