In advance of a trip to Europe this year I’ve been looking into refillable gas bottles, specifically those sold by Safefill U.K. These are lightweight bottles with different filling caps per country and the company tell me they’re accepted across Europe and you just take the bottle to a garage and get it filled. Does anyone have experience of using them? There are some suggestions on the ‘Gas’ forum that some garages won’t refill bottles. Someone even says that it’s illegal in Spain to do so. Any advice appreciated.
(I don’t want to invest in a tank system as we go abroad rarely and our van is 13 years old. I don’t think it would be worth investing in at this stage. We carry 2x13kg calor and went through that on a previous 10 week trip, being off EHU 80% of the time)

Would have thought you'd have an answer by now... Someone must take them abroad.

Fit proper refillable with a view to being able to remove easily if you want to keep for next van? You can leave the outside fill port and take everything else (unless you sell as part of the deal).

Identical / very similar thread already running so I think many had already replied to the prior post. 👍
I have seen one from a couple of months ago. Do you have a link?

When you say an outside fill port I assume you mean in the gas locker door or in the van body? If so I didn’t want to go down that route as I’m fine using calor in U.K.so the refillable would just be for one Europe trip. I’ve also been told by a motorhome dealer (and I’m sure plenty on here will disagree strongly) that putting an external filler in detracts from the value of the van as most buyers don’t want refillable or a filled in hole where the filler point was.
