Hi All,
Would you recommend using the quest pro pop up gazebo with sides for the odd night sleeping for guests? I don’t really want a drive away awning and would use the quest a lot more. Daughter and fella wants to visit a few nights occasionally.
Many thanks
Darren

If alternative was under your MoHo YES
buy one of those blow up beds fo the house and they will feel at home.
use a standard air bed they will freeze and not wish to stay a second night

Great for a warm summers evening, but if rain and wind forecast no. (y)

Don’t think they have a sewn in groundsheet so not something I would consider. However, put a 2/3 man pup tent up inside the Quest and you would be well cosy!! I use to have one of the original Quest 4 screenhouse and it was great.

Not for sleeping in really unless as Cal54
Says and put a small tent inside. Suitable for youngsters only. (y)

If you have a windout awning, placing it under that will give extra protection too.

Yeah, had considered that but I don’t think I could rest knowing the wind could take it at any point, I never leave the awning out at night.

Looks like I’ll be purchasing both, either that or just the quest and hope the night is so bad they don’t ask again 😉

You also might want to check where your vents are, we looked at an air awning for our Hymer and dealer noticed that our 3 way fridge is next to the hab door so vents would exhaust into the awning.....word of warning, I’m no expert but he did seem to think that we could kill our relatives.

Fortunately nothing on that side that would cause a problem, but thanks anyway as I hadn’t even considered that.

Just turn the fridge off if running on gas an hour before bed and back on in the morning, it will stay cold enough overnight. No problem if on ehu. obviously.

We've had our quest up here in Millport and had some blowy and rainy weather. It stands up to the wind pretty well with the sides on, it'd be ok if it was a warm night I think.

I can’t remember to turn the fridge off when it’s in storage so little chance of that 😃😃

provided you have sides on the quest it no different to any tent apart from not having a sewn in sheet so summer yes any other time no

Traditional tents never had sewn in ground sheets, so the lack of one on a Quest shouldn't be a concern. Just remember many sites won't let you use a groundsheet unless it is breathable, so it won't be fully water proof. Make sure your Quest is well pitched and not in a dip on the site.

Consider too comfort of those sleeping. They will want a quality sleeping bag as even summer nights can become chilly. Proper separation from the ground is a must. When I was tenting I found a cheap inflatable was great for basic cushioned mattress, but it needed to be topped off with a good inflatable camping mattress (these things are foam filled, self inflate, and take a bit of effort to deflate and re-roll.

Our Quest has been up for weeks now in the back garden as a meeting place for our youngest plus his mates and it’s the old sort with detachable sides. Other Son plus girlfriend have slept in it at Highlands end but with a popup inside. The new ones have fixed sides so would be less draughty but I’m not sure about the fourth side on the new one and getting in and out of in a hurry or privacy. In the old style Like we have if you put the waterproof/privacy side on the entrance/4th side you’d struggle to get out in the dark in an emergency.

Why not take a look at a Decathlon Air Seconds Base XL inflatable shelter.
Goes up up less than 5 mins, has a removable fitted tub groundsheet, front and rear porch if needed and a window and side door plus loads of anchorage points.
I had the same situation with occasional guests on site, and did not want the faff of a drive away awning.
Very watertight and spacious and has many variable uses if wanting to combine with an additional but seperate pup type tent.
Is only 250 by 200cm footprint and fits nicely on a 6m wide pitch with a Moho at 3mtrs and complies with most site safety regs under normal conditions.
Well worth a look .
