I am considering changing our A class for a PVC, Autosleeper Warwick or similar but I was wondering where people who have these store their fold up chairs, wheel levellers etc. I don’t really fancy keeping them in the shower/toilet compartment and don’t really want them in the seating area. Any clues appreciated.

Hello!
We have a Globecar Campscout. It has normal dinette near front, side kitchen opposite bathroom and either a huge double or twin longitudinal beds behind.
Under this fixed bed is a cavernous garage area. We keep our large standard labradoodle on one side and 2 tables, chairs and all the gubbins you need on the other.
There are many vans with this configuration. It works well for us.
Good luck, Liz

We have a Warwick Duo, and keep everything under the bench seat. Hubby has made a partition so that the levellers etc are at the back, fold up chairs at the front with bedding on top. Over cab for washing rack, fans and silver screens. There is still some room under the other bench seat for awning handle etc (keeping all away from the boiler & battery of course!). We don’t carry the drive away awning or windbreak any more, as we find we travel differently now - far more relaxed about moving on!

We only carry a watering can and a 5 litre container of water in the shower.Reclining chairs are on the back behind the bikes on top of the two chequerplate boxes I have fitted on the rear which contain everything else we need.BUSBY.

A lot will depend on what van layout you go for.

Our chairs are bungeed on the back of the front seats for travelling and we still have access through to the cab. On site, they’re either set up on arrival, or go under the van.

The stand up paddle board bags were extras on this trip and either stood in the side door entrance, or were carried short distances on top of the fixed bed and kept under the van on site. Loads more room under the fixed double bed and also under the sofa.

Only winter time sees anything carried in the shower, when the wet Silverscreens are carried in there.

I have a Globecar Trendscout with raised single beds at the back. Huge storage space here and over the cab. And massive payload. 5.64metrelong

It’s a pity that many of the big converters don’t think enough about how people use their vans and what you need to carry, fortunately I did my own and knew beforehand what we needed to carry.
It’s not rocket science but any van with a rear transverse bed could do what I did and just leave some space behind a bulkhead.

We have a Swift Select 144, having” downsized” from a coachbuilt.

We find that with the underfloor and under bed storage we have enough space to carry all we need. It’s a squeeze but it all fits!:)

There are variations on the rear lounge with more storage, some with raised floors so you can utilise the space underneath for stuff, some with 'boots' etc ... however I think AS have totally lost the plot now ... they have a bespoke hole for the posh toilet brush!

The Hymer Car has space in the rear for the Chairs and Table, these are the ones that come with the vehicle. (This is the Ayres Rock which is the short version of the Ducato at 5.4Mtr long). We also keep the wheel levellers in the back.

We had a PVC Trigano Tribute front lounge. Bathroom had a walk in shower and that was great for storage as the toilet was still free space. I had Air suspension fitted and had towbar bike rack and adapted the door hung bike rack to accomodate the Thule back box so chairs and ramps etc fitted in .The great thing about that van was the 3ltr comformatic and 150ltr Fridge freezer so great for longterming.

outside seating wiind break wheel ramps etc go between the two bench seats for traveling on areival we put the shed up(one of these cheap £25 pop up two man tent) and bung everything in that leaving the camper floor space clear(y)

All depends on your layout of course, I have a 20cm partition between the rear doors and the transverse bed where large item's are stored with storage behind under the bed, everything is accessible from the rear doors.

The AS Warwick is one of my favourite vans but when my wife and I looked at the storage options then we just couldn't think how the Warwick's storage layout would work for us.

The usual trade off issues between a large van with space and a PVC.
We have a Twin with the fixed bed and there is enough space underneath for a least a months worth of gear but just a front dinner and cab seats for relaxing if the weather is a bit inclement. This is fine with me and u dont have to make up a bed every night.
Wife would like a rear lounge pvc but there is nowhere to store all that stuff for a month away that I can see and then the bed making.

Spot on ... we loved our caravan but all storage was under bunks and I didn't like the palava of setting up and making the bed up.
Our PVC has loads of storage and we can just fall into bed ... no setting up at all. I’d need an 8 or 9 metre van to give me the best of both worlds but that’s a different proposition altogether and not for me, I don’t think.
A tardis ... that might do ...

Obviously depends on how large your A class is, and what the layout is as to how much storage you currently have. Some layouts are restrictive.
I have a 6m Wildax with a fixed bed, plenty of storage under, more than most as the gas/water tanks are underslung.

We have an Ih630RD with a U shaped lounge. The quest pop up 2 chairs roll top table fit under the long bed on one side. This still leaves a big boot space for buckets, warring can, mat, levellers, toolbox(haha) washing line, silver screen, bike helmets, ruck sack, extra shoes! But most importantly Nicks cider.

Do you have a 'warring' cans at dawn after you've imbibed too much cider? ?

And how you would fit in that bed

Great storage in the 'garage area' at the back of our Rapido V68:

It's always struck me that the majority of mainstream British van converters just don't make any sensible provision for storage. Surely, most folk want to carry some sort of deckchair or recliners, windshields, levelling blocks, hook-up cables etc etc.

The continental designers seem to understand this, whereas in the UK it seems to be all about first impressions - "doesn't it 'look' pretty, spacious and practical inside the van". But in reality, not so practical for leisure touring.

We take the van to Spain for 6 months in the winter, but we don't have any stuff cluttering up the living area or loose in the loo - it's all packed away.

I don’t drink so we might have a shoe vs cans war but I’d win as I pack the van so he has to be very very careful!
We go away for a month or two at a time so packing enough clothes is not a problem. Washing machines are everywhere. We are in a marina in Denmark and they have them. There’s no way I’d want to carry around 6-8 weeks worth of dirty laundry, that’s just yucky.

The Murvi XL models have full height storage behind the righthand rear door plus the usual storage under the bed.
