our soon to be picked up new to us MH has the lengthways single beds that convert to a large double. My daft question is what bed sheets do people use? As we'll probably use as 2 singles, how do you cover the adjoining bit in the middle at the top with a sheet?

We use 2 old plain cotton duvet covers as sheets. Cut open on one side but left sewn up at the bottom. This is because our last camper used the cab seats for the feet and I didn't want bare feet sticking out onto the seat fabric.
Under this sheet, we put IKEA thin mattress covers - singles.
On the top, down filled single duvets.
For the middle bit at the top, we just layout one of the thin easy wash fleece blankets that we use to protect the seats during the day. Can be grabbed in the night if it gets a bit too chilly too.

I have made fitted sheets for our last 2 vans very easy, even for a bloke who has to get the insruction book out every time for the sewing machine. Just buy some flat sheets and Google "making fitted sheets".

We made our own fitted sheets and fitted mattress protector too. Used paper to draw a template. Faffy but not difficult.

No need to mess about with paper I just laid the sheet on the lounge floor the mattresses on top. Cut the sheet to the size overlap you want and cut the corners out and sew. :)

Difficult to use fitted sheets though as it sounds like OPs MH like ours with a U rear lounge. The rear cushion goes right across the back and there is no gap to tuck the sheet in.

Nope, 2 single beds like this I think:

Looking at the beds it won't be difficult to make fitted sheets for them with a separate cover for the central bit.

Lots of great ideas already which considering I made a rubbish attempt at describing the layout, is quite impressive. Should have thought of including a photo to start with

Ah, I see!
If you are going to use them as singles, I would be tempted to leave the central mattress bit at home so that you have a firm topped bedside table.

Agree with above.
Our island bed is made of two singles. That's OK but each can be raised independently at the head. The only way that can work is if the bed was made up with two separate sheets.

I have a lay-out like that and just use a separate sheet for each bit. The bit in the middle has it nearly wrapped all around, but it works for me.

We simply used a sleeping bag each.
Why bother covering the bits you won't be sleeping on....center cushion etc.
In summer left unzipped,
colder weather, zipped up.
Ooo no thank you, we find sleeping bags uncomfortable, sleeping bag linners are a pain tried them in out tenting days. When away for 8 weeks need to carry spare sheets and wash them a couple of times couldn't imagine doing that with sleeping bags, the boss likes the sheets changed every 2 weeks.
If you don't cover the centre mattress it will soon get grubby and look horrible.

The centre cushion bit could easily be covered with a cot mattress I should think.

On and off for many years.
We use IKEA continental size fitted sheets. Two singles or a king-size depending on the bed set up. The cheapest ones will do - singles are on special offer at the moment, less than £2.50 each I think.
