Private, Personalised, Cherished Number plate.....yes or No.

I’ve now put my personal plate on the Frankia, didn’t rush in case it turned out like the Carthago we had for 24 days.

The people who own duck bay marina on Loch Lomond used to have UPU 1 and his wife had UPU 2 I always found this quite amusing when they were parked together

Having ones name initials and birthday is also very easy to remember 22BN and double up 44BN

I have a couple of them but it's a misconception that we actually own then.
Every registration remains the property of DVLA and the payment made is just for the permission to display it on a vehicle. The ownership remains with DVLA and can be withdrawn if they so choose - missusing the number by distorting or wrongly spacing the letters for instance, can result in DVLA withdrawing your right to display it.
Spot on! I'm not sure a lot of folk realise.

If they buy a number plate they believe they own it. But the situation is exactly as you have described. 👍

I remember reading somewhere (but not where ) that thieves would be more likely to avoid stealing a MH if it had a a personalised number as it was easier to spot .
Obviously there was nothing to back up the claim

One of the first thing thieves would do is replace the number plates so it wouldn’t matter if it had private plates or not.

They wouldn't necessarily know the year of the vehicle though which might help identify the fact that it's stolen....

Who else would know the year?

I've been very tempted to get one on our MoHo.

It's my wife's surname and first initial, which means it's not 'close' to her name, it really is her name in full.

It's a very rare surname, I think there are only two other people with the same surname and initial in the UK.
So it's resale value may be very limited.

The DVLA want £750 for it

If you want it then go for it before you miss it.

Does she like personal plates or think they're a waste of time? It might be worth finding out first!
