Oh as we land at 6pm which aire/site would you recommend, planning to look around Santander the next day so a 2 night spot.
Thanks guys

I always check the weather for the crossing and destination - weather can be poor in Northern Spain, you might not want to hang about....

Beer and beer chiller.

@Barclaybasher true it may not be sunbathing weather but we don’t need to be in Barcelona area (sitges) for a few days so was going to meander down.

I always have breakfast in the restaurant on the Pont Aven. I don’t like the self service one much but the other one is a pleasant experience (if it’s calm).

Wimp, the best thing to do if it’s the weather is bad is to eat a nice greasy breakfast. :D

I think I would spend first night at one of the aires in Santander and then, after looking around, drive to the “elephant” aire at Cabaceno for the second night. It’s not far and It is nice there.

It’s my daughter David, she gets very sea sick.

I feel wheezy sometimes and unable to drink beer but that’s as bad as it gets(y)

Short crossings :
Plym-Roscoff
Flask of coffee
Phone off
Tablet with preloaded film or series.(if needed)
Sleep
Arrive refreshed
Enjoy the drive
Works for me

We're crossing next Friday, do you have coordinates for thi aire? Assume its attached to the wildlife park, is that also recommended?

Caberceno aire coordinates- N 43.35841, W 3.81860 or
N 43°21'30", W 3°49'07"
According to Campercontact

They will give you an extra pillow if you ask onboard

The way down to the aire is along the road ahead between the church and the red restaurant. Watch out for the house with overhang.
It took us a while to find as we didn’t trust our satnav ! It was one of those “it doesn’t look right” moments and we drove all the way back to the roundabout on the main road. As @MikeD says, it’s been reported on here that it’s really worth a day to visit. I like to walk through the village to the viewpoint over the elephant house about 9am when they let them out. It’s great to watch them run to the water hole.

We stayed there a couple of days ago, great advice above and look for the church and drive down the narrow looking lane to the side of it, watching out for the house with the overhanging balcony!
We decided to do the safari park as the weather was pretty wet and could drive round in the van (it’s 30k round) definitely a must do, it was a great start to our trip.
Do the cable car as soon as it opens to avoid the queues.
We were on the Pont Aven, thought it was pretty good, had a nice meal in the restaurant in the evening, didn’t think too much of the self service one.
Make sure you drive straight on to get out of the port, leaving via the back entrance as it were, avoid turning right as it takes you through the town.

Cabin sockets are continental so you will need your adapters should you want to plug any devices in.

Just spent two days in Santander and l must confess we were amazed just how good the town is for a decent stop over. The aire is 15 minutes walk from beautiful beaches through open parkland full of families enjoying the open spaces. You can walk along the edge of the beach around to the marina and harbour with lots to look at. Then you can "climb" back up through the houses and down to aire through the town. I say "climb" but infact the route up the hill is eased by moving stairs, escalators and lifts making the walk even easier.
Yes a big ✅ tick for this delightful place.
But be warned if the aire is full DO NOT park on adjacent roadside, there is a specific weight limit, 1.8t and the Police enforced it all day long with wheel clamps and tow trucks.

Liferaft, lifejackets, handheld VHF, emergency beacon & flares! :D

Food is good at the Red restaurant, €9.50 Menu de dia, 3 courses inc., wine. Only open 12 to 5 pm.
