Hi all,

To all the Pilote owners on the forum I'm after feedback on the Bultex mattresses as fitted to newer/current Pilote Pacific models.

Looking to buy a new P650c early in the new year and I see there is an option to upgrade the standard mattress to what is described as a " comfortable memory foam mattress"

Does this mean that the standard mattress is uncomfortable ?

Thanks

Patrick

We had a P650c for nearly 3 years up to a year ago, with the Bultex mattress. We certainly had no complaints with the bed. It was very comfortable.

second van with Bultex mattress and very comfortable. I did put a 1” mattress topper on as well; not needed but a bit of extra luxury

Don’t know if the mattress in P650GJ is supplied by the same manufacturer but our single bed mattresses in our 2019 Van are very comfortable

Not wanting to sound the pessimist but I have found the standard mattress too thin on the two occasions I have used my van, three years old and owned it for five months.
The mattress is only about three inches deep, haven't actually measured it, and as a temporary/cheap option I have acquired two rolls of rubberised foam to place under the mattress to see if it makes any difference.
I am aware however that the mattress may not 'breathe' correctly so should that be the case I will have to consider a mattress topper myself.

That sounds very thin......

We also have the bultex mattresses on our p700gj and find them very comfortable, we have a thin topper as well just to protect the mattress,we are very happy with our pilote our 3rd motorhome.

DuxDeluxe,
I agree, I will measure it when I visit the van over the coming weekend. It is a Bultex but we can feel the wooden slats beneath it and we are both lightweights.

Another two happy Bultex sleepers here. Sleep better in the moho than at home.

This thread makes me wonder if there are different types of Bultex mattress used by respective MH converters.

The one in our Rapido Van is reasonably thick and rests on slats but slightly too firm to be really comfortable. A mattress topper makes all the difference for a good night's rest.

In our 2019 700gj we find the mattress slightly firm but very comfortable, not felt the need to put on any type of topper.

Had a G740c for 3 years and well over 300 nights sleep with no problems at all. Ours was 'Sensation' spec and I seem to remember the mattress was different to standard 'Essential' spec, but that may well have changed,

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

Overall a positive response, although the need for mattress toppers by some is a bit off putting.

We had to use a mattress topper in our current motorhome, which has a French bed, and found that we needed to use a prop to keep the bed raised when accessing the storage underneath.

The mattress upgrade is £360, small potatoes in the overall cost of a new van, so may go down that route.

Interesting that nobody has felt the need to upgrade at order stage.

Thanks again

Patrick

We are happy with Bultex mattress. Wouldn’t pay for memory foam but would pay for them to take it out!!?! For us memory foam gets too hot!

We eventually changed the original mattress and topper to a memory foam mattress and have never had a heat problem with it .:xThumb:

I know the daft suggestions, but does anyone have a sensible solution to the problem of the leg which ALWAYS disappears down the gap between the 2 mattresses on a Hobby Siesta 2010 with LH side fixed french bed? Hubby is a reluctant MoHo man so I need to improve his overnight experience! Reading the previous answers, some say memory foam is hot, as we wander around Europe in August that's an important consideration too. Should I go for microfiber, are they thick enough to bridge the gap? Thanks in anticipation, Jules x

Can you not lie across the gap  or would the bed be too short that way 🙄

Our 2001 G270 has the Bultex foam mattress. It is a little firm for me considered changing it but aware need to not have too heavy or may not be able to lift the drop down bed.
