Hi all, son is borrowing the van to go up to Scotland and staying near Oban plan is to drive in and spend some time there so looking for somewhere safe to park ,if anyone knows somewhere, can you please shout as don't want it parked in the street!!!! thanks

There is an area next to Tesco that is for MH and lorries. Overnight I think it was £10.

Does he want to park or sleep overnight ?

Just spoke to Fellow van owner on site in Borders who has just come down from Oban, he says it was manic so warn him that he may not get anywhere to park

Sorry forgot to say he will be going in mid October so maybe quiet then

There is an area next to Tesco, for MH, lorries, and buses. According to the strict logic of the signage there, the charge applies to lorries and buses, and therefor not to motorhomes. I have asked others who parked overnight there, and nobody said that they had to pay.

He could park there or in the actual Tesco car park, for the day, and shift out of town at night, if that suits his plans. I should be careful though with the nearby car park beside Argos etc, it has a time limit (2h?).

Otherwise yes, Oban is a zoo, for parking and traffic.

Some campsites aren't opening up there this year so space may be at a premium.
We are heading there soon but rather than annoy residents we are using sites. I think our wild camping days are slowly coming to an end as our hobby is being wrecked by the minority of irresponsible people.
Plenty of pubs outside Oban who will allow parking in exchange for the purchase of meals.

Hi, when we were in Oban a fortnight or so ago, we parked in the Longsdale Car Park which is beside the Atlantis Leisure Centre. There was plenty of space and it was pay and display. No staying overnight in motorhomes though. It's an easy walk into the centre of town from the car park. There were several other motorhomes parked there as well.

Don’t park in Tesco’s or marks Homebase car parks. 2 hr limit then fine in Homebase car park 3 hrs then fine in Tesco. Ganavan sands nice to park in the daytime no overnight. If you can get the motorhome spots on the side of Tesco ,5 of them I think 🤔 lots of tourists in Oban lots of them. Enjoy your stay. It’s my local town I’m 10 miles out in taynuilt you pass it 😷

That sign is so ambiguous that it just doesn't make any sense.
I have stayed overnight safely and never met anyone who has been given a ticket.

Mid October is Scottish school holidays. Not sure how busy it will be this year.
