On route to Portugal

Things we love , I know it's only the same old things but albufieria, loole gypsy market, villa Mora, any roadside cafe, as I say only the normal things but we love it.

The Algarve is good, but we think the real Portugal is away from the southern coastline. It all depends on what type of holiday you are looking for

Not looking for busy towns nice quote spots will do

The Algarve is a big area there is plenty of 'Real Portugal' there if you keep away from the tourist hotspots, the Eastern Algarve is my favourite along with the Alentejo coast. Drive up the Guadiana from Vila Real de Santo Antonio to Alcoutim and Mertola.

Not sure what time you are spending there. We came back via the west coast 2 yrs back. Absolutely stunning. It's not as touristy as the Algarve and was a great adventure. We avoided Porto and took a stunning drive along the Douro river.
There are often aires, and we found park4nite ( other apps and books available ?) to be very helpful.
Bom jesus in the north west is well worth a visit, it's a monastery built on a mountain.
You will also find countless towns (often fortified) on the border with Spain.
Most of the barragems ( reservoirs) offer camping that is often free and can offer spectacular scenery.
By just meandering through the country you can't fail to find some true gems, and the people are very welcoming
Happy camping ?

We motored down through Portugal zig zagged from coast to central found some fantastic places, some in the Aires book some we found on the way by chance. All were OK. Some free some for a few euros. Just go with the flow and enjoy.

Where in Portugal just now. Staying at a free site in a place called Gimonde. There is water toilets and a hot shower. Great bar and restaurant. We where shown it by another Brit.

You are close to Braganca where you can fill bottles with lpg, but you probably haven’t been away long enough to need a fill. There’s also a nice aire there by the castle.
