Thanks for replies. Just one query please! Is the bolt that needs to be removed before inserting the torx screw actually holding anything? In other words will anything “drop off” behind it ??
It is one of the supports for the fuse box, with a captive nut and nothing drops off when the bolt is removed

Since 1995 + 20Yrs a 'Tugger' first.
I fitted this one to my Ducato. It's a metal cover that is attached by two self tappers that screw into the yellow plastice centre of the OBD socket. The heads of the screws have a variety of cutouts on the heads so you need a special nut driver to remove.

I purchased mine on Ebay but I can now only find it on Amazon - at considerably higher cost!

Protectavan on EBay do a Universal OBD Port Protector for £89.99. Is this not suitable? By the look of it, it screws into the port as per #65. British made!

Do you have a link? Not listed here https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/protectavan/OBD-Port-Protectors/_i.html?_storecat=6255356014 as they start at £124.99.
UPDATE: Found it now in their "Other" section http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5...0001&campid=5338547443&icep_item=223755514502 - simple idea (not cheap though at £89.99!) but if it works well enough wonder why they manufacture the other version?

MH newbie but we owned a caravan previously.
it is a security screw, but easily undone with the right bit. It is a torx type screw head with a pin in the centre, so the bit is hollow
Not saying how but you don't need a Torx driver to get these out.

indeed you don't but the opportunist thief is not likely to want to spend time messing about, getting the lock off and slowly unwinding a bolt

Found the same photo as above on this manufacturers website https://www.bi-automotive.de/produkt/obd-protector/ so not necessarily a UK product either.

but driving two self tapping screws into the middle of the plug has a good chance of damaging or distorting the plug when you need to use it

Taking the pee, £80 for a small metal plate, 2 screws and a bit to fit them. Easy to remove if you lose the bit though with a screw extractor

If they're using an OBD bypass tool on a vehicle with a mechanical steering lock, they have to physically overcome the steering lock as well as starting the engine. They usually do that by brute force in seconds with the tools in their possession, and they're not going to be slowly unwinding bolts that are screwed into a plastic socket when they can rip them out with the same tools! They don't care about the damage they cause. It either doesn't matter because they're going to dismantle the vehicle anyway, or if they intend to clone it they've usually already got a similar donor vehicle in their possession.

What I read is for 06upwards Ducato ?
yes, the model known as the x250 came in in 2006 and had a facelift around 2015 to the X290. This fits both, but will need a spacer or extra nut to fit the later vans

If you have a 2011 ducato it will be x250 and this will fit. Sometimes it is easier to assemble the components on the bolt and line that up first. This when pulled in tight covers over the OBD port correctly

What problem are you experiencing?

I have 2 fuseboxes to the right of the steering wheel RHD. One down low under a flap and one accessed by 2 screws by the drivers right knee. This is the one where the OBD port is

I'm on a 2013 so X250 and it's the same as TheBig1's picture. The seems to be different variants which is really strange.
