Hi all thinking about 1 or 2 overnights on the east coast somewhere next week for wife's birthday. Thinking we might not be welcome anywhere too so really not sure. Haven't got a clue where to stay or even if anywhere available to pitch and plug in overnight. Anyone any ideas? 1 night wild if nothing else available. We have 2 dogs to walk too and like a nice beach near ish. ??? Have mixed feelings about doing it and the reaction we might get ?

I love your optimism but until we move forward to the next stage of the road map and hear what other options are open to us unfortunately, under this current stage your thoughts are not an option :(

The following has been taken from the Gov.UK website:

1.9 Are day trips and holidays ok? Can people stay in second homes?
Day trips to outdoor open space, in a private vehicle, are permitted. You should practise social distancing from other people outside your household.

Leaving your home - the place you live - to stay at another home for a holiday or other purpose is not allowed. This includes visiting second homes.

Premises such as hotels and bed and breakfasts will remain closed, except where providing accommodation for specific reasons set out in law, such as for critical workers where required for a reason relating to their work.

Wouldn't do it, especially near here Bamburgh area, locals not happy about people able to drive any distance for a day out at beach. Also think the carparks are shut. We only live 10 mins away and we haven't even ventured to beach during lockdown.

Nothing to stop you as has been said unristricted travel is allowed but I doubt if the locals would welcome you. Cumbria Police (other side I know) are quite upset about it but haven't said what they will do yet. The Welsh police would fine you.

I thought you had to return to your main residence overnight.

As others have said theres no relaxation for staying overnight I think around here (Whitby) theres a very good chance of the police sending you home probably late in the evening and you getting one of the new £100 fines.

A curfew?
Not really but they haven't released any retrictions on staying somewhere. You could argue as its your own vehicle and presumably no rule saying you can't drive all night its legal to park up and sleep. The police might have a different view whether they can enforce it or not is a different matter. It could be that if the police can't enforce it the local patrols decide to pay a visit just to knock on the door and check you are ok every half hour all night!

I wonder what all the long distance truck drivers are doing now, they will certainly be parking up somewhere!

I personally see nothing wrong with parking up somewhere and not coming into contact with anyone, after all is that not what wildcampers aim for.

Sounds like a ridiculous idea to me..

Slight difference they are working. Can't you see the difference..are you working as key worker.. ? NO ... STAY HOME.

Obviously I can see the difference that the slogan you use spells out.

Please tell me what is the difference between self isolating in a truck in a lay bye or service area and doing the same thing in a different vehicle. Obviously if self isolating is not possible then don't do it.

KEY WORKER

Yes, please explain the difference in the spread of the virus.
There are risks to keyworkers coming into contact, touching things and transmitting the virus. But they have to do it so we can eat, drink, attend hospital etc.

No-one has to go the north east coast just for a jolly. We need tp apply common sense. If not, the govt will clamp down again.

I cannot believe you are even thinking about this jolly. STAY AT HOME
Why?
Absolute stupidity, where is the common sense we have been asked to use.
In the isolation?

I see no conflict?
KEY WORKER
I`m a Carer?.
Nob and head comes to mind
Speak for yourself?.

That should wind a few up!.

Yes, please explain the difference in the spread of the virus.
Really?

To minimise the spread of the virus this county is minimising as much movement and contact of people as possible.

Key workers are needed to keep the country running, so the risk is calculated and accepted.

Happy campers, for all we’d all love to go back on the road, are not essential.

Irrespective of what you think is right or wrong.....the PM says we must return to put primary home after a day out.....end of.

If you mean NE of Scotland you've no chance.
