Hello everyone
This seems a great forum, pleased to be a member thanks for having us!
We own a lovely old Peugeot Talbot Auotrail camper made it 1990. It is one of the longer models but still only has a 2 litre petrol engine so is a bit underpowered and will only do 65mph on the flat with a trailing wind, especially if towing the trailer lol, but it is very comfortable and quite cheap to run because we had it LPG converted when we bought it a few years ago. It has 3 LPG tanks underneath and can carry 150 litres of LPG for the engine so has good range on LPG too.
We had it converted to LPG when we bought it a few years ago and it runs great on it but the heating, cooker and gas fridge still all run from a red gas bottle. The LPG fitter said he could have modified one of the engine LPG tanks so it could also be used for the heating and cooking gas but we didnt go for the vapour take off so we still have a normal calor bottle for the heating and cooking.
The LPG conversion has been great and more than paid for itself, we were wishing we had the vapour take off fitted until recently but now we've got an even better setup. LPG was going up in price at petrol stations and the numbers of petrol stations selling it was going down but now we can refil with LPG at home using an LPG pump we just bought and it works out cheaper than filling at forecourts and we can refil at any time we want without having to leave home to do it. We can even take an extra bottle of gas with us and have extra range for the engine or refil the red bottle for heating and cooking and the gas fridge whenever and wherever we want. It works out cheaper to fill up with LPG from 47kg red bottles than from any petrol station forecourts so the pump was a no brainer and has proven great, it just connects to a car battery and we can have an extra 20 gallons of fuel in the LPg tanks or refil the red bottle in no time.
We like to go to Cornwall at least once every year but go on various trips and have days out all the time.
Just passed MOT only needed one part something about brake bias and cost about Ā£100 to pass.
