Not sure if this has been mentioned.

"Motor homes have been blocked from one of the beaches on the Isle of Sheppey.

Concrete bollards were installed by Swale council on the shingle bank at Minster this week to stop motorists camping overnight for free. It is also after complaints of litter being left."

So motorhomers are the only people to leave litter, that's what is being implied.

Wonder if they are going to monitor the amounts of litter being left once cars only are allowed in, i think not.

Just another narrow minded and short sighted bunch of kill joys

Its not motorhomes that leave the litter that is just an excuse. The way it is going in this country they might just as well motorhomes from using the road system its getting farcical. Time for the motorhome community to hit back and its got to come from the top the manufacturers and the big clubs they have done very little to help so far.

I wonder if it is time to set up a Motorhomers Action Group rather like the Motorcycle Action Group, Federation of Historic Vehicles Club etc etc we do not seem to have a collective voice that puts our side of the case to Government, Local Councils etc. There is a time when we will all need to fight for the right to drive our Diesel motorhomes anywhere (remember our motorhomes have a lot longer life than a car) I can see the get rid at all cost diesel brigade, just mouthing off without thinking of the very little environmental impact that our relatively small group present. The organisation of a pressure group with sensible ideas ie of motorhomes cover a lot less mileage than a car and should be given due consideration we as a group are getting a bad reputation by the action of a few ref the countryside amongst other things,we need to act now.

Was overnight camping banned there? If so, and motorhomes have been doing it anyway, it would justify a width or height limit to stop it.
I agree motorhomes are not welcome in many places in the UK. With so many on the roads now, the industry should do more. But that might be undermined by folks camping in places where it not allowed.

Signed in the hope that one less spot for us to stop will be reinstated, although I am not holding my breath!

Can’t see the big clubs helping in any way if it’s going to drive people onto camp sites ⁉️

It's a matter of supply and demand. Would it not help if the UK adopted the German and French approach of providing the motorhome community with a plentiful supply of local authority run Aires or Stelplatz, - dedicated, generally small, areas with basic facilities, - water and power, grey and, sometimes, black water drainage plus rubbish disposal. Many quite small town towns in France and Germany have these, with a small payment being levied via an automatic machine for use of these facilities. If that was the aim of any "Action Group" I might be interested in supporting it. If it is just going to be a un-constructive lot of shouting, not so much. It would require less centralisation and more money made available for local authorities.

I'm proud to be British, but (and there's always a "but") I'm so glad not to use the Moho in this country. Everywhere I go I'm penalised for parking more than 2 hours. Barely enough time to spend my hard earned cash and support the community I want to stay in. When I travel Europe I am welcomed and catered for. We all know, and abide by, the do's and dont's of dumping waste and litter. We carry our own dustbins for Gods sake. It's fine, if they don't want my financial support I'm happy to give it to our European Brothers.

Just putting out there and not sure I agree myself but you could take the view that the local authority that has the area within their charge have a responsibility to do something if there is an issue - clearly from the reports there is one. Maybe we should not assume that they have not evaluated and assessed the reason for the problem and based their actions on what they feel is the right thing to do. All well and good for us motorhomer's to collectively band together about loosing our rights (again) but it could well be rubbish left from people staying overnight - or it might not be. We also have a responsibility. Here endeth the sermon but it is Sunday!

I didn’t see any Motorhomes leaving tons of rubbish on Brighton beach yesterday! The only problem at Minster stems from the water Teddy Boys on their Jet Skis and Quad bikers trying to bury their bikes in the shingle. !!

Who wants to go to Isle of Sheppy anyway it’s just a mud bank in the Thames estuary
I live near, it's packed every weekend with visitors from many places, it's a very clean safe beach for kids, it has Life guards, it has grass seating area, it has an ice cream shop, it has a chip shop, it has a pub restaurant. The beach is pebbles and sand, no mud these dates, it also has a blue flag due to recent improvement, It's very nice so give it a try. If you have been lately you wouldn't say that. Maybe try it first.

I don't do Facebook anymore so is there another way to join / get info?
Thanks

The Facebook page has deteriorated in to the usual FB foobar of fragmented chaos and endless repeat questions from the spoonfeds that so plague it.

FB is not the right place to try and organise anything imho, I stopped following the page after about the 100th discussion of the NT appeared in my news feed!

there is a web page that may develop as a point of reference over time

First you have to find a way of dealing with "Travellers" who would otherwise just take over such facilities and probably trash the area!

Travellers would move that lot in two minutes if they wanted to.
