Bought a new leisure battery (125ah), which was delivered yesterday. It arrived in a cardboard box. I opened the box and the black heavy duty platic bag it was in (also sat on polystyrene pieces). I heaved it out of the box and noticed some dampness around the side of the battery near the bottom. I wondered if it was condensation or battery acid !!!. I managed to sit it on top of the black bag inside the box and would check it in an hour or so. I checked it again and it appeared to be dry, but I then noticed that my trousers had holes in them!!!! which must have happened when I lifted the battery out of the box and touched my legs...
I phoned the company who will exchange the battery, and I asked if the battery should be put outside as I was concerned in case it leaked onto my carpet. I also said that if the box was put outside, I would not be able to guarrantee that someone would not 'steal' it. They said it would be quite safe to keep it in my house .
Do you think I should keep it outside?
