I keep my motor home in storage and I ought to reverse park but I rarely do. On two occasions I have needed serious help to get it going after leaving it standing for too long.

The problem of course, is that I can't get my car round to the nose end to get a connection with my jump leads. Over the years I have bought jump starter kits that weigh a couple of kilograms and none of them have been any good.

This time, yet again, I left the camper unattended for 4 weeks and my attempt at getting it started did not even raise a click, click, click.

I read the reviews for the Cobra JumPack XL CPP 12000. It arrived the next day and was already fully charged. I did the connections, tried to start - nothing. Tried a second time - nothing. Spent the next couple of minutes explaining to my leading lady how things were supposed to work ... turned the key, and away she went. I was absolutely flabbergasted. The size of it is about as big as 2 packs of playing cards and it really does shift a 2.3 ltr diesel engine. I paid £90, well worth the money.

Got a leapower pack, sounds like the same sort of thing as you have. Never used it to start a car etc but use it to charge phones etc when not on EHUBought it after seeing a mate start his 7litre RV when the dash light was not even showing. Started no problem.

Used to be a school of thought that vehicle A shouldn't be jump started from vehicle B. Seems the alternator of the charged vehicle can have it's diode pack blown if the flat car is revved on starting. Hope this makes sense.
Battery charging pack is the safest option , can be pricey , but one use makes it worth the money IMHO.
Again , hope this makes sense to someone:).

Or alternatively why not connect the MH to your domestic mains? Another couple of flat battery episodes are likely to finish your starter battery. And leaving the leisure battery to its own devices for that length of time will kill it too.

Glad you got it going but the money you’ve probably spend over time to keep sorting it you could have paid for a half decent solar set up to keep your batteries topped up...

Look in to it, you could save yourself some money and most of all a lot of inconvenience...:xThumb:

I have tried a couple of these over the years. The best one for me so far was the Rav Power ones. This can even get my 2.8L Diesel started.
I leave it on for 2-3 minutes before trying to start.

Avoid the NOCO ones. Had one and it was useless, ended up blowing it.

They are also handy for recharging tablets and phones when away from the house (y).

That's what I do, but being in storage, the OP hasn't got that option.

I'd need a 15 mile long extension lead.

A small solar panel in the window of the van connected to the van battery, with the negative lead removed?

Disconnect the leisure battery.

I can get you 12 long leads which would be fine but you’ll have to disconnect the traffic lights yourself. :mask::xsmile:

A "free" solution would be to just park the other way round.
Job done!

You connect positive to positive then earth from jump starting battery to a decent earth directly on engine of car to be started. That way the good battery isn't attempting to equalise with the flat one. Then rev up before attempting to start. This doesn't apply to newish vehicles that need specialist methods of jumping/battery removal/replacement.

Just bought one of these, following the comments and link from @Gromett . :xThumb: Looks like the dog's danglies! Ordered yesterday, arrived lunch time today, brilliant! :xThumb: Perfect for keeping in the van/car just in case! Takes up no room at all.

Be careful with that idea. If it is extremely cold then the Li-Ion batteries will suffer degradation the same a lead acid batteries do and it may not be much use.
Best to keep it in your house and just take it with you when you are going anywhere for any length of time.

I have not seen any reports of this particular one suffering from cold effects. However the last thing I want is for something I recommended to let you down :p

In the motorhome this is not so much of an issue as you tend to keep the hab area warm when you are away :D
