Hi, it's that time of the year again, shopping round for motorhome insurance. I've been with Comfort for several years now but having done some spade work AIB look a good bet. Comfort are a little more expensive than last year as I suppose most are and like most we've hardly used our van. Are Comfort still a favourite with most funsters?

Just renewed with Comfort,
Absolutely fabulous service and price

We renewed with AIB. They came up with a good quote for us

I’ve just done the legwork, as, Petros says, as it’s that time of year again.
So, Aviva web site..... multicar...very happy with the results. Tried to get the camper on, but no chance. (Bearing in mind I’m with AIB, but the policy is underwritten by Aviva).
So, I rang Aviva, only to be met with the reply of “we don’t insure Motorhomes over 7.5m in length anymore”. So I thought ok, I’ll go elsewhere.
So, onto the Comfort website... not only to find a great price.., but the policy is underwritten by........Aviva.... 😳😳😳
My next option (being from Yorkshire👍) was to go on the CAMC website because of the “we will beat your renewal quote by £25, which they did...so it’s a really good price and they are underwritten by Devitt I think... I will contact AIB later to give them a chance to see what they can do as it’s only fair after the 5 years of excellent service they have provided. But at a saving of nearly £250 for three vehicles, I can’t be loyal just for the sake of if.
Hope this helps 🤓👍

Have decided to stick with Comfort, they have always kept us up to date with current travel situations in Europe. They were about £15 more expensive than AIB. I must admit though that AIB do look a good bet

My renewal has come through from comfort, was £1081 last year, £1470 this year😳😳

Where do you live? Why is it so much?

Mine £50000 van is usually about £350 ---- £60 extra for European breakdown cover

We are due to renew ours soon too, John did a bit of phoning round, one quote was for more than double that asked for by our existing company. I will have a look online see if I can better it though. he got fed up rpeating the same information on the phone

I live in essex, the van has tracker and alarm and it’s all locked away but its value for the insurance is £160k

If the AIB policy is the Aviva one it's the same policy as Comfort, they were £10 less for me but for 10 quid I couldn't be bothered to change.

There is a other thread on this forum somewhere here which I responded to. We were with CAMC until this year. When I looked at their policy I saw that it was underwritten by LV, who insure out other three cars so, I gave them a call. Their advice was concise and covered everything we needed. We insured with them saving the best part of £300. The only thing lacking with their cover when compared to the CAMC was the £1k limit on possessions. Most of ours are covered on our home insurance policy so it was not an issue.
Obviously, make sure that my experiences match your expectations from them. We have no issues with them thus far. Hope thus helps.
Take care and stay safe all.
👍

My Eriba and Autosleeper are both under £200 with AIB - and European cover (if that's ever needed anytime soon!)

Both underwritten by LV - OK one is a 1988, the other a 1991

The Mobilvetta is with Comfort who did insure the Eriba until it was written off - Aviva Comfort's underwriters were brilliant - sorted out the no fault claim, even got my excess back, no loss of no claims (in writing) - then refused to insure the Eriba because it had been written off (no structural damage) - then moved to AIB

Probably move the Mobilvetta to AIB when renewal for that comes up

I’ve emailed aib and phoned them twice and not bothered to return my call😥

insured with comfort phoned aib to get 15% discount they quoted £100 more than comfort .when i said thought you could beat comfort they offered me a Aviva policy £10 dearer than comfort ,sticking with comfort

Our renewal has come through from Comfort this morning and it has gone up by £16 so I think we will stay put. I normally check round but I don’t think I can be bothered for that.

Just had my renewal from comfort it is £34 less than last year so will be staying with them.

Had my safeguard renewal today, gone up £30, so rang them to ask why, when my bus has been in secure storage along with a hundred others snce last July because of lockdowns and travel restrictions and as it doesn’t have any batteries in it it’s hardly likely to catch fire or be stolen , and as it’s not going out out on the road till who knows when it’s unlikely to have a crash, ah she said you have 365 European cover, I said don’t you people know we can only go for 180 days now, and what about the extra years ncb?
ah let me see she said and knocked off £30
do these people pluck their prices out of thin air?
told her I would be shopping around

Aib have come back to me and their quote is £699, the policy is with aviva, my comfort policy is £1470 with aviva, cover is same on both policies but with greater mileage allowance with aib, so I think I will be moving insurance company for the first time since 2013!

Just been doing the annual ring around, at present with Comfort the price has gone up £10 to £373.00 decided to ring around Caravan guard came in at £282.00 and safeguard at £299.00. I think it’s time for a change Comfort not interested in even trying to match it

Just had a call from Advanced Insurance for my renewal is £349 which is the same as last year. I was hoping for it to be a bit lower this year as I didn't have any NCB on a van last year and also we have fitted a Thatcham S5 tracker.
Anyway rang Clubcare and cheapest quote was £769. Think I will give Comfort a call tomorrow.

Hi, i have been with Safeguard for many years but at this years quote they have shot up, now settled for Comfort Insurance
far better price and better cover for Van at £53k.

I was with AIB and found them good but have just switched to Comfort. Not a massive saving but the cover was also better.
