Companies make them as a custom fit :-

Ask if they can make one for Donald Trump. :giggle:

Ok......but will you not be using your ‘van in winter? It’ll be a pita putting it on & taking it off! o_O

Not sure tbh, but I keep it on a drive surrounded by trees so expecting it to be covered in crap before too long!

Do you have much on the ‘van roof (aerials, solar, etc)?Perhaps rather than a full cover, just one to cover the roof and part way down the sides.....held on by bungees or some such similar........ Any other Funsters know if this is feasible?

All of the above I’m afraid. I’m clueless on this but a quick google shows covers up to about 8.5mtrs

Fiamma 'cover top' are good.

Easier to fit than a full cover and most of the muck lands on the roof anyway.
You could maybe join and fit 2 'cover tops' with an overlap.
Park your van with a slight incline so that the rain water runs off ?

As suggested, I'm guessing a full cover will be heavy and awkward to fit.

Our experience with using a mototrhome cover was not good and we will not use a cover again on a motorhome that's parked outside, the reason why, well we used a cover over winter to keep the muck and grot off and although the cover was tight on the motorhome the wind moved the cover about and rubbed through areas of paint to the aluminium on the corners of the motorhome. The cover was not a cheap one, it was a Royal breathable with a soft flock type lining.

This topic has been 'covered' many times, usually ending with an almost certain 'Don't' cover it on the grounds of ....A) Effort (they are a pig to fit. B) Not got round to using it. C) Damaging the paint dragging it over the corners. D) Can trap stale smells etc etc
However the idea of a top only cover has me interested. It may stop some of the black streaks and bird poo. I wonder if it will be easy to fit? I think I will wait for others to find the weakest link.

Our experience of covers has always been good - golden rules are to only put on a freshly washed motorhome & fit securely, Maypole covers are the best ones we've tried on caravans, coachbuilt motorhome & our latest van conversion - so far not experienced any wear or mould using these breathable covers & clean enough to use without washing after being covered all winter. With so many trees & birds nearby covering is essential for us but does mean we have to leave on EHU rather than the solar topping up the batteries although there are some more expensive covers that can have bespoke clear roof panels. It is a 2 man job to lift the cover up onto the roof but decorating poles with tennis balls on the ends help!

Agree with Wombles
We have used a cover for 2 vans over several years - It is a 2 person job to get on and off easily. Only put on when van is washed and polished - no dust grit etc
Secure tightly - checked on regulalry - never left on for more than a couple of weeks at a time
Never put on wet
But it does keep the van clean and makes a big difference
I would suggest that we would never put a cover on a van in storage.
