Maybe stupid I know but this lockdown, finished here now,has meant I have spent a lot of time on YouTube.
Looking at bikes suitable for an old git, love the Guzzi, perfect for the mountains nearby but,
Been looking at the Royal Enfield Interceptor, cheap simple and think it looks good.
Another one is the Kawasaki Vulcan, sounds strange, paralell twin 650.
I had a Versys 650 for along time and the engine is a belter, some surprising reviews on this bike.
The idea is to entice the old trout back onto something other than the very comfortable but slow 300 scooter.
When I was a kid, used to spend hours with my nose pressed up to Gander and Grays Window at the Continental GT Enfield.

Years ahead of it’s time V4, gear driven cams and single side swingarm. The only picture of my grey import VFR400 that I can find.
Unmistakeable at a 100 meters was the unique whine from the gear driven cams. One of the finest handling machines of it‘s era and could probably still hold its own on the twisties today.

I'm not being rude, but if they were good ideas, they'd still be using them now. Summat to think about.

Cost?

Single side swing arm are still in use.....
The majority of the 2020 MotoGP grid are V4
Aprillia used gear driven cams in WSB until the rule change around 2012 ish

Ducati's motogp engine (not latest obviously) v4 and gear driven cam

So they haven’t really stopped using them and I did think about it....

One a newbie
My wife’s first bike a red n black nc30
Bought before she past her test.
I loved it, we were in York looking at an R6 she liked she agreed to trade her nc30 in we went upto Stokesley
When she dropped it! Only front brake lever snapped off and a few minor grazes she rode my Triumph home and I ride the nc30 with no front brake.
I remember looking at the vfr400 nc30 uk version one local bike shop same price as the cbr1000!
But what a lovely bike.

I was meaning on the road bikes. Honda briefly took those aspects from their race bikes and used them on their road bikes. But not for long.
Hmm.

Great tread

I purchased my first bike (CB250N Super Dream) from Firstline Motorcycles Arnos Grove in London.

Saved every penny I could for years and then got to the magic £699I had already bought a helmet and leather jacket from one of the M/C shows years before. Got a mate to take me up there with everything I had i.e £700.

Picked the bike up to find there was only a dribble of fuel in the tank so had to ask for £5 back lol

Was chatting to a guy in Coldharbour (Surrey) at the weekend who had recently treated himself to a classic XT for his 50th. He was well chuffed

2nd picture, my mates garage full of RDLC's

I treated myself to this 'Mutchless' Classic 250 for my 70th. Loads of Club runs and rallies, couple of long French and U.K. camping tours and to N. Spain and back. We've both been sulking for two months.

Bit of luck that there was a photographer there to capture it. ?

My mate took the photo I was determined that day was going to be the day I got my knee down, I just kept going around the roundabout with my knee down what a feeling . I needed a new slider but wouldn’t change it , too much street cred ?

I'll need to try and find a picture but I had a UK Spec VFR400 (NC30) in absolutely mint condition.... Another bike I should have kept

They had rectangular mirrors and were mega expensive new.. circa £10k

I was out one day and a police motorcyclist stopped next to me at the lights and lifted his visor to speak to me... He pointed to the front wheel and said "Don't panic but there's a bit of dirt on it"
