Perhaps I'm a bit behind the times, I've just been told about the 'Blind Spot' stickers that all 3.5+ ton vehicles must display on French roads. Three stickers are required, one on the rear and one on each side near the front. The stickers are 25 x 17cm (no going to miss those!).
The fine for not having them.. €135 sir.

If you think you're behind the time , then what should I say about me (or even US all French!) Nothing about it in the news. So unless you are someone having time to look for new laws/rules in magasines or on the internet, asking questions I would not even think of (is there a sticker for "angle mort" to be put?? Sounding to me like: will we have blue tomatoes in the future.... yeah right !) well then .... you just know nothing about it. And funnily I happened to learn about it in a previous thread.
I would not worry too much... Not a lot of people must know about it!

That said I find this rule quite good . Many a time I thought about putting a few words on the back of Max .... Something like : Oh, toi! T'as conscience que je suis gros et que je te vois pas quand tu me doubles ?!" Thing is .... too many words! I can't help being a tad agressive:boxing::blush::blush::france:

I have been reading some of the comments in that article!
One says that the rule is that you have to put the stickers on blind spots on your vehicle (if over 3500kg) so he thinks that if you have cameras and therefore no blind spots, stickers are not required.

Don't see why the hoo ha about this, what's the problem with sticking a couple of stickers on your van, if it saves just one cyclists life it's got to be worth it.
And that's from someone who can't stand bikes on the road.

I'd rather be safe than trying to argue the toss with the local Gendarme at the side of the road. I've also seen this only applies to French registered vehicles only - however, I've yet to see this confirmed 'officially'. Perhaps I'll check the UK government traveling advice pages.

A 25cm x 17cm sticker isn't a small sticker...

I can't stand bikes on the pavements and footpaths.

Yes, what I thought. But indeed, not all motohomers buy the magaZines (I thought Z was for the american version of the word, hence a S instead!)
I used to, when I was a young dreamer, with no motorhome.....it was just in my dreams...
But now, no! My magazines are now "how to have the best retirement pension"
or How to F*** the income tax rulers, Or what nappy to choose for your baby (don't forget I'm a Nanny.... not a young mum!).... OR for oldies lol ! And my favorite forums are ... FUN and Netmums ... and of course "laretraite.fr"
I guess I will tell the gendarmes my preocupations about nappies and retirement...If caught! :p

I don't find it normal to have to search for info about rules we have no idea of

I actually got complimented by the police at the spanish /French border now I'm home there in the Bin!

i've not personally read anything about this apart from FB posts and on here so bowing down to everyone who has, but does this actually apply to us in the UK.

If so i'll go and order some but tbh I don't want any stickers on my van at all if I can possibly help it especially at these sizes

and when you think about it if they can see the stickers surely they can see the bloody motorhome they are stuck on

LOL An interesting point of view.

However, visitors from the UK to Europe are encouraged to comply so many rules and regulations for fear of being fined left right and centre by over enthusiastic members of law enforcement who see (UK) or (GB) stickered vans as easy pickings.

Ignorance is no defence of the law, or at least that's what we are led to believe in the UK.

It’s rather pointless to me. If the cyclist doesn’t see the van how on earth are they going to see a sticker that is stuck to the van they don’t see?

Ignorance is no defence of the law,
This is also a LAW here! You can't hide behind ignorance!
I was being a tad cheeky in my previous posts as my Max is not 3,5t but only 3,2t so not concerned by this rule.
Nevertheless , will probably buy the sticker, stickers actually as I would like to put one on each angle..... when I find some time to do so. Corfew doesn't make things easy and on week ends ... mummy to look after and help and I'm a granny too so .... so difficult to deal with them all, and of course JJ, my Prince who is stuck in Portugal while I'm stuck here!

Its not what they can see but letting them know that you can't see them in the blind spot.

See hundreds of artics here from all over Europe and beyond and don't think we've seen these blindspot stickers on any of them.

A
what blind spot are you referring to?
The areas that we can't see when we look in our mirrors i.e blind spots or as the French call them 'Angles Mort'. The 'blind spot' stickers are to remind and show cyclists that there are areas where they can't be seen and to take care.
