Hello All,

Just had a letter from the above company reminding me the 3 year warranty I got from the dealer when I bought my 2nd hand motorhome is about to expire. Vehicle is a Bailey Approach that was new in 2014. The headline price of their offering is £30 per month.

Anyone bought a warranty from these people?
Are warranties for 2nd vehicles worth the expense in general?
Any good / bad experiences regarding warranties?

Thanks

Stephen

I always tread such warranties with deep suspicion and usually end up "self insuring"
Overall, I think I'm in credit 👍

I don't believe in warranties.. if it breaks you are guaranteed it wont be covered.
Put money you save in account and use to pay any future repairs required

On the other hand, bits for Peugeot’s are not cheap, so £360 a year for a 7 year old isnt that expensive provided you know what is and what isnt covered

I had a BM&G used motorhome warranty that came with the van I purchased from a dealer. It proved almost worthless.

I had a valid claim for a sudden brake fluid leak and to cut a long story short, after much pressing they eventually coughed up £80 towards a £260 bill.

Local garages were reluctant to do the work unless I fully underwrote it, because they know how difficult it is to get paid by the company and the very low hourly rates they will pay.

I wouldn't have bought the warranty in the first place but, as said, it came as part of the purchase of the van.

Admittedly, the above was nearly a decade ago, but I can't image they have changed. I am sure they will still try to wriggle out of claims.

As others have said, I normally self-insure for such things and take it on the chin when expenditure is required.

I would put the money aside and use it in the event of something going wrong, and have the van serviced in accordance with the instructions.

We have just claimed for a new water pump from them and they payed up within the week and just waiting for a electronic module £300 to go through the warranty came with the van for 12 months

I took out the gold MH cover after my Carthago was out of warranty after two years. Paid £26 per month for next 36 months. Total paid to them £936. March 30 th claim for fridge main panel board. £270 plus labour authorised in two hours three weeks later main MH control board fails. £369 plus labour. authorised again in two hours. Then like the London bus. Number three claim comes along in May. Air bag ESU fails. Total cost through Adam Morley Fiat Portsmouth £411 This time although claim accepted in full in the small print they only pay £55 plus VAT in labour. As AM charge £75 I was left £40 to pay. Everyone has issues with these companies. As it stands I have had back a good share I paid in without issue. Many say put the money aside in case you have an issue. Yes well if that’s what you want so be e it. Just check what is covered snd buy the level of cover that fits what you want.

Used them last year, no issues as long as service and hab docs up to date.

You may find nothing is covered until its been stripped and the fault found.
This is not paid in the claim, only the damaged part and labour to rebuild.

I have a warranty came with van useless. When you try ans claim computer says no. Nice blurb in brochure and b-//sht on the phone but absolutely worthless imo

We had a six month policy with that company that came with our first motorhome when we bought it from Leisure Kingdom back in 2013.

Within the 6 months we discovered a big damp patch appeared in the roof. The bill to repair it locally was over £3k and they paid up in full from memory. The repair company dealt with the whole thing for us at Tavistock caravans who were brilliant. I was pleased that I had the warranty!

The roof join to the back panel had never been fully sealed on manufacture and it had been creeping in for 3 years!

Ive received a renewal from them too.
I never even knew that I had one running for the past 2 years. Maybe the dealer included it automatically, but they never told me.
I might look at the sales paperwork which I have filed away but I won’t be taking them up on the offer anyway.
