We have gone away for a few days out by Matlock.
It seem to be a bit like Scarborough motorhomes not verry welcome.
Signed every whare saying no overnight parking sleeping extra.
We were going to go spend sume Mony in the town but have now left and fund a laybye for tonight's.
We did check out a compile of camp site's but not paying what thay want to park.
Any suggestions for our weekend in the aria.
Bill

Hope you have found somewhere. Matlock is a lovely town. Bikers used to always meet there at the weekends they used to park all the way down the main street. Fascinating just walking down there and admiring the bikes. I think they stopped after Derbyshire Dales District Council started charging them to park. To me Matlock in that area is like Blackpool with the fish and chip shops and amusement arcades but just wander off the beaten track a bit and there are some really lovely scenic walks. The walk around Riber Castle is lovely.

Loads of pubs around there that let you park.

Free parking at Cromford canal car park with a dishab badge and plenty to see in the immediate area

We stayed overnight in the car park at Cromford Mill near the church. This was as near to Matlock or Matlock Bath we could find to park up for the night.
It was stop start traffic all the way to the turning for Cromford Mill when we were there earlier in the year so we didn’t bother trying to find some were to park.

Matlock and Matlock Bath. I still get confused which is which and I am local🥴

Bakewell is a nice town with a market on Mondays I think. There is a park up area behind the farmers livestock area but it is around £8 per night ,water and dump with EHU as an extra.

Matlock bath is the one you described. Basically once the railway came the Victorian’s turned it into a Alpine resort. The setting of the cliff side and the river. Made them think of times spent in that part of the world.

It’s much nicer than Matlock I always think. The festive when they have illuminated boats is always nice.

Do they still meet up there?

Gina
On Sundays yes, still have friends going even tough I moved away a couple of years ago? On street parking almost impossible on Sunday usually unless you are on a bike. Get early for car parks or park before Matlock Bath. In a van I would avoid Sundays 👍

We're in North Wales sod derbisire and the peck district

North wales is more anti motorhomes than Derbyshire . Cromford canal car park would have been my suggestion and if you were a Caravan and camping member they had a temporary holiday site at the rugby club at the back of the car park until today.

Sadly North Wales is another one overdone by the hoards and longstayers as will be the NC500. Have used many in the past and as i stay mainly overnight and move on had no problems , Rhyl,Colwyn Bay, Llanddulas, Conway, Caernarfon just a few that were ok to stop a few years ago.

Can you get to Black Rocks from the tow path on foot? I have been to Black Rocks loads of times, once got caught in thunder and lightning up there with no-where to shelter!!
