Called at local petrol station today to put diesel in work van, first time for 10 weeks.
There was a motor home trying to refill their gas bottles and struggling even though two others were trying to help.
Whilst paying the cashier mentioned their antics, adding it wont matter next month the LPG is being taken out as it's to much trouble to get delivered.
This is a major Shell garage on a busy trunk road. She added the next LPG provider is more than 50 miles away.
So is LPG on the way out?

Here in NZ quite a few petrol stations are removing their LPG tanks and it is more common to find ”swap and go” cylinders. Very few motorhomes have refillable fixed tanks, but we certainly have many more gas barbecues and gas heaters!

Our shell one went last year.

No LPG powered vehicles in NZ then?
It isn't just for heating and cooking.

The word is Shell are moving out of the Autogas market.

Which means large areas of the country (for example Kent, with a population of 1.6m and through which almost every single EU based vehicle passes) will have zero autogas filling stations

I think the local Shell garage stopped selling LPG a while ago. Morrisons was the next nearest but that’s a no go now. I will stick to bottles for now.

Where i live in the Highlands there are 3 stations within 15 miles. One updated its pumps last year, seems lorry parks cater to them ?

Read these scare stories before.

So far, there are still 3 Garages and 2 specialists LPG only stations near to us in Stockport. I still see plenty as I travel around.

En-Route to Javea from Bilbao or Santander, there are plenty. Mostly Repsol.

In Javea, there are two LPG Stations, one being Repsol.

Abundance of them in France and Luxembourg. Never struggled in Germany or Austria. I just always try and keep the bottles topped up. Always filling up once one of the two are empty.

As said, Shell are pulling out of the LPG market.
In North Staffs we`ve lost about five retailers in the last couple of years and options locally are very limited now.
I managed to fill up in Wales just before lockdown but in future filling up will need a bit of forward planning I think.

Never had a problem. Quite a few locally. 2 independent, 2/3 major companies and at least 3 supermarkets within 5 miles but if I don't top up here, I top up en route or at destination.

Why is Morrison's a no go now..? Our local Morrison's still do LPG.

There are many LPG outlets in Britain, just fill up elsewhere on your travels.

There were 3 shell garages within 5 miles of me in december they are now all gulf but they never sold lpg anyway.

Theres one gleamer garage 4 miles from me that sells lpg but its £0.76 per litre so I drive a further 10 miles to morrisons that sell it for £0.53 per litre.

We use the Shell garage on the M20 near the Channel Tunnel to fill our LPG tanks, and it is always well used. I wonder if Shell will close all there LPG pumps or just the non profitable ones?

One Shell one near us has stopped but a couple of BP's have put new pumps in and there is a Morrisons not far away that now sells LPG.

I though Morrisons had panic attacks if you try to fill bottles in a motorhome.Bill

When we were at Old-Mo's 18mths ago for a protracted period we discovered that the Stafford area is a desert for LPG.

You need to look for independents not just large garage and supermarkets several in and around stockport and usually cheaper

Not true! We live in Kent and there are at least 2 garages within 15 miles, possibly more, that sell LPG. The closest one being Morrisons. We invariably top up there as it's the cheapest one around but we're happy to fill up wherever we happen to be if we've started on the 2nd bottle. Don't bother otherwise.

There isn’t to my knowledge a shell garage anywhere near me so can’t comment on them . The garages that sell LPG locally are carrying on as before. I think there are at least three selling LPG within 5 miles one of which is Morrisons. I haven’t used Morrisons as the access is a bit poor I’d have to reverse out which is a bit dodgy. The others are texaco and jet.

I dont trust the MYLPG.EU any more as its not always updated often enough, so if possible I make a call and ask before going, having learned the hard way.
Some have suggested looking for an LPG supplier of household gas, usualy on an industrial site, as they dont charge VAT apparently as we are only using it for heating & cooking.
I really must have a look and see if I can find one of those places, one day:unsure:

I think nearest is Tore roundabout about 7 miles north on A9, thats the new one as Its a truck stop. next after that is Skiach on A9 towards Alness, next after that is Dornoch A9.
Thanks, there used to one on the road into the town centre form the A9 but it is a while since I have been there.
