LPG at the garage pump or not

Tried the BP on the A1 north of the services and it had none. Have used Flogas but struggled to find any others last year around Christmas. Not my idea of fun driving the van around Peterborough.
I know what you mean - but I manage it our 32 foot RV that feels wider than a dual carriageway. :giggle:

More an issue with Peterborough than vehicle :)

NORTHMEAD Shell garage is dual carriageway all the way there if that helps you next time or Eye Roundabout Esso/Morrisons but FLOGAS depot always cheapest but only open midweek.

Used the Morrisons when it was the Coop but thought they had stopped so good to know - just looked up Northmead and it is temporarily closed :)

Has anyone got to the bottom of why LPG is becoming difficult to find in Britain whereas it seems to not be a problem on the Continent?

Here in Poland I estimate that 60-70% of filling stations have LPG. I do not know if they have supply problems. We have a BP station 1km away and they have always had LPG when we needed it. Price is currently around £0.62/lt

Is the take-up of EVs much faster than on the Continent. It seems to be slow here - the 4 Tesla chargers in LeClerc across the road are very under utilised, even though they are free. Maybe the Poles will not pay Musk's price for a car - they could give Yorkshiremen a run for their money.

It’s not been a problem for me, must be lucky.🤷‍♂️

I use the LPG.EU app on my smartphone.
It seems to be up to date with LPG availability and prices.

If we need a refill we simply look for a working LPG pump enroute.
We also have a calor bottle as back up, but not needed to use it in 5 years.

On the duplicate name issue

I once has a ship inspector fly from London the Dakar in West Africa
He turned up at the port, the Harbourmaster said he had no knowledge of the ship.
He booked a call back to London (back when international calls took hours to arrange)
After a frantic few hours in London we managed to contact the Captain of the ship awaiting the inspector.
The ship was in Dhaka (Bangladesh)

The ship inspector was stuck in West Africa for another week before he could get a flight back.

When i was flying an executive aircraft for Pye, part of Philips, we were taking 5 sales people to Bayreuth, famous for its opera house'. It was then just a small grass airfield.

All the air traffic controllers en route did not seem to have the ICAO code on their list and kept asking our destination and even when we said it they thought it was Beirut and thought we cannot get that far in a Beech Queenair.

The other half of this story is that we did not have an official chart for the airfield but had a copy from our colleagues in Philips' flight department in Eindhoven which showed plenty of length for landing. We landed but when we got over the hump in the airfield we saw a new fence across the last 1/3 of the strip. We managed to stop OK.

For the return flight we told the passengers to go to Nurnberg and we took off empty with minimum fuel to collect them there.

Just found a gem of a place selling LPG at Illogan, near Redruth (Cornwall). They are open 7 days a week 09:00 to 18:00 (every day except Christmas Day) and have just installed new LPG storage tanks so they are aiming to be there for the long term. I went there today to fill up (95ppl), really friendly and relatively easy to find. It is a not a garage as such, but is a plant nursery dealing in hedging plants. The reason they store and sell LGP is they have a large pickup truck for their deliveries that is LPG powered and they wanted to provide a service for other people. While I was there, another MH came in for gas, so it is getting to be known. Cash only by the way, so make sure you have some notes in your wallet if you go there! The address is Teresa and Paul's LPG Station, Old Portreath Road, Illogan, TR16 4JA. The details are. also on the myLPG.eu app.

Yes that is the one, but he has installed another large storage tank now, as he has changed suppliers that need him to take bigger loads, and yes to answer one of the questions on that thread, they do fill Gaslow tanks (that is what I have). (y)
