I am favouring 2 x 100Ah and avoiding ones with Bluetooth built in. Just something to go wrong and people with Bluetooth seem to find that it is not covered by the cell warranty. 2 batteries means that if one goes wrong you still have some power.

I know nothing about lithium but, it's better to have 2 then if something goes wrong in the battery dept. you still have a 100ah instead of nothing? 🤔

Edit, 😄 Two minds thinking the same!

I've opted for a 300a Fogstar Drift as I only have room for one leisure battery and this is more or less a straight swap for the existing AGM 95a battery. Charging system upgraded to Victron 30a B2B, 30a battery charger and smartsolar 100/30 solar controller.

The only reason I would consider two / one battery is if a single battery couldn't handle the load placed on it, which will be down to BMS and manufacturing design.

Thanks everyone. How long will your setups power a fridge? Im thinking of the 8 hours+ time on the Portsmouth St Malo ferry

Mine uses about 20amp per hr, so 160amps

Are you talking compressor fridge or 3 way absorption? That's a lot of power, if it's a 3 way type the 12v is only designed to maintain once cold it will not continue to cool or freeze. AFAIK.

I wish. Stuff in the freezer has defrosted. So i refer back to my original question!!
Mine is a largeer dometic 3 way ...uses average 12 -14 amps per hour via inverter when taking cycling on and off into consideration. Turn it in to it's lowest setting

I went for 2x 200 ah batteries for redundancy if there was a problem with one

I did actually have mine on 12v as to lazy to get the EHU lead out and plug in😁 from when the fridge/freezer had been switched off for weeks, it took a few days and a very big draw on the batteries but it froze up.

My 3-way fridge takes about 14A when it's on 12V power. For 8 hours that would take 8 x 14 = 112Ah in theory. So your 200Ah of lithium would be fine for that. The older fridges with smaller 12V elements just maintain the cooling, but the later fridges with full power elements (14A x 12V = 168W) will keep the freezer frozen just like the mains element.

Eat stuff in freezer and stock up on the other side, Simples! 😀
Id love to, but the boys have mega autism (non-verbal and semi-verbal) and the younger (the semi verbal one) only eats eight things, four of which you can't get outside UK!!! Has anyone ever seen Yorkshire puds in Carrefour or SuperU?!!!

Is a 3 way fridge/freezer one that runs on 230v, 12v and gas? If so, I've got one. Thetford, dunno what model but it has seperate freezer.

So for safety, i need 200amp lithium as a minimum. Prob 280.

Ok, so ive got an inverter as well. Is it better to plug in the inverter to keep the fridge going at 230v, or keep it on 12v?

Last question, if it runs down the lithium leisure battery, will it start to nick power from the cab battery, and empty that out?

Cheers for the advice everyone. Electricity novice.

No, but surely they have the ingredients ?

Perhaps a bit flippant.
Dont worry about it! Yes of course, and i can. But. Autism is a strange and utterly frustrating condition. My youngest would seriously not eat rather than eat 'off menu'!! And a Yorkshire pud is a certain shape and colour. If it doesn't look like something out of Aunt Bessie, he wont eat it!!

You cannot know how much of a pita this is !!!
And of course Mrs DDJC is glucose free. We never eat out!!

Unless you or someone else has wired it to run off 12v from your leisure battery then no.
It will only run on12v with engine running.
Again no it won't then drain your cab battery.

You don't need it on 8 hours..flick it on a couple of hours after boarding you'll be fine...if it gets close (it won't on low) then flick it off again..
My old 200ah battery would run the fridge freezer overnight no problem on my 3 way via inverter with a good bit left in the morning when the sun came up

Do you have solar and b2b to top your battery back up when you arrive

Well I contacted 3 battery manufacturers they all if you can get one large it’s better than two smaller. Reason less complicated
