Posted about this before Xmas and still struggling to find an answer, I've hopefully included a video this time to help explain the issue.

I've disconnected both light switches that feed these lights but they still randomly switch on and off, not being electrical minded I'm thinking that the controller must be getting the signal to dim the lights as I thought disconnecting the switches would have switched them off. I have no idea how they work apart from you press it once and they come on 100%, if you then hold the switch in the lights will dim until eventually going out.

This photo is of one of the switches I disconnected, you can see back of switch on worktop.

Are the dimmers made by CBE? Looks like the back of one in the photo, Please give details of the switches and controller.

My mate has these lights that you touch to switch on and hold to dim. They often switch themselves on at random times. I think it's better to fit basic lights with a switch!

But do they switch on and off when the switch is disconnected and laid on a worktop?
He's never done that! He just attempts to turn them off with limited success. Often he locks the van and one will turn itself on.

Did these lights ever work correctly? Do you have 2 dimmers that operate the same lights, or does each switch control a separate light/strip? maybe the switch surfaces need to be cleaned, grease or oil contamination on the surface maybe causing the phantom cycling.

I would have to take them off again to check, won’t have time until the weekend.

Had the van just over 2 years and this is the first time it’s happened

They have worked since new and van is just over 2 years old.
Yes I have two dimmers that work these lights, I disconnected both switches at the same time and they still came on.
I thought the surface might be damp or dirty, however it’s still does it when disconnected so can’t be switch’s at fault, or can it?

Not an electrician so this could be a lot of crap, if the light has some kind of electronic controller is it possible this is the fault. Is it maybe lost it’s bearings and is constantly trying to dim?
I will see if they are on a separate fuse and just remove it as we have enough lights until I can get someone to look at this.

The dimming sensor is very sensitive to voltage fluctuations as that is how some work - like touch lamps at home.
Mum swore she had a ghost kept turning her little light on..... Until I noticed it happened whenever I turned a fuse on or off when changing a plug socket for her.

The touch dimmers I found have 4 wires, +vs, gnd, and output to lamp + and -, From your description it sounds like you have a separate control unit that is supplying the led’s and the dimmers must be connected to it. Any drawings of the electrics?

Here is the light drawings, from memory the lights that are faulty are K4. I’m thinking of pulling the fuse on the correct one until I can get it fixed

Wow, a multiplex dimmer system, you could try disconnecting all the switches to see if K4 still comes on, I am guessing here you can change the settings on the switches so they will operate any of the dimmers 1-8. It’s a great system for the manufacturer as it can be easily configured for different vans. But I think this is special for Knaus so I would not like to guess at how much a switch is or the main control unit. I can’t see a fuse for K4 so you might have to just disconnect it at the controller if possible. Hopefully you have some warrantee and can get it fixed F.O.C. I would suspect the main control board is faulty it could be any of the switches or even the cables.

Our microwave oven used to switch the touch bedside lamps on ☺️ I suppose close proximity mobile phones could cause the same interference 🤔

Hope I don’t jinx this but I think I may have found the issue, firstly after going back to the van it was K1 as the photo in the book must be a generic one.

Anyway with advice on here and talking to control tech at work, I was looking for a wire that might be loose or touching something, after finding the box I posted above (no fuses in it) I found a bare wire on K1 that was possibly touching
another. I disconnected and taped with insulating tape, I’ve had the 12v on for the ver 12 hours now with no issues and all lights working as should.
You can see the black wire, not 100% sure if this was the issue but fingers crossed.
