:welco:

i would contact Carthago explain dealer is unable to sort it and arrange to get it repaired at their factory workshop and ask for a contribution to the cost of travel.

Also join the Carthago owners club they have a fair bit of clout with dealers and factory contacts.

I’ve tried that they told me could only take it there

I would try and contact GMC or another dealer to try and get them to contact the factory for you and hopefully take over the warranty work

The factory does not deal with the general public but it’s still worth sending them a email try and find a contact name to email

Really sorry to hear of this and thank you for bringing it to our attention

I was thinking about a Cathargo and going to go to Premium at Bawtry but this has just put paid to that idea, we did go their tbh as they are about 30 mins from us but after trying the locked door, pressing the bell, and walking around the forecourt for about 25/30 mins with no offer of help or assistance we walked away. Sounds like we got of lightly tbh

I really hope you get this sorted quickly as I can imagine it’s very disheartening

We ended up buying an Autotrail Comanche from Danum Leisure at Askern Doncaster just up the road and their service up to now, has been exemplary

Al

They have a complete service centre there, although separate to the factory it is on the same site.

yes I know we have been there twice Lenny but you have to have a appointment and only a dealer can make appointment for you

Our dealer spent 4 months trying to make a appointment for us in the end we were passing the factory so we called in to see why we could not get appointment.

They denied ever getting any emails from our dealer luckily the dealer also send us a copy they apologised but would still do the work

If they wont reply to emails try sending a signature needed letter by post. I feel your pain, its awful when something doesn't get sorted the first time..(Like mine) but 6 times, you must have the patience of a saint. Good luck.

Carthago have a pan European warranty should be able to take it to any dealer in Europe.
It’s very hard to get any dealer to do warranty work as carthago only pay €25 per hour warranty work and it takes the dealer months to get paid for the work

When our satellite wires melted we went to camper uk as they are a carthago dealer and a Teleco agent

They said if it had of been a teleco fault they would of did the work because it was a carthago fault they would not do the work under warranty

Hi I copied the Carthago service in on all emails that I have sent to premium Motorhomes pictures as well but they have not give me any other options might be a good idea to ask if I can take it to the service Centre over there we have had 2 years of back and forth there work is horrendous if I can save some one else the pain at least I’ll feel better there handiwork and the leak

If Premium have failed to respond to your emails I would suggest investing in a solicitors letter.

If you've had the van for 2 years, then its unlikely that you are due a refund, unless your solicitor suggests otherwise based on the number of attempts already to recitfy.

However It might be appropriate for your solicitor to ask for the van to be returned to the manufacturer for the seal and the internal water stained items to be replaced.

Putting right the water staining won't be a quick or easy job I expect, so it might be better to leave he van at the factory for a while. You may even get lucky and get Premium to arrange shipping back to the factory.
If you dont ask you dont get.

Best of luck getting this sorted.

Speak to Reliance in Sussex. They do warranty work on Carthago’s and have an excellent reputation.

That’s shocking you must be gutted , hope you get it sorted .

You need a contact name at the factory someone on the owners club may be able supply you with a name and email

I had issues with Premium when I purchased my Carthago headache. I think there name needs changing to something more suitable to there service. It may be better if they started Lego.

I have had Carthago warranty repairs carried out at Reliance of Chichester and they told me they get good rates for warranty works.

I agree they are a top notch company but they are very very busy at the moment they do all our work

You need to ask for Chris not sure but I think they are now closed for the holidays

Did you pay with a loan or put a small amount on a credit card? If so contact them, tell them what has happened, they have considerable swing in these matters

That’s because they are a service agent not a dealer different rates

A dealer makes money from the sale of the motorhome so carthago expects them to share the costs of repairs

Thats bloody disgusting, I would ask for the name of the idiot that did those so called repairs and have a word with him in front of his boss and a camera if possible. It's almost like a sort of rape of the expectations isn't it. I feel for you, I really do.

Sorry if I’ve missed something how old is the van and how many owners has it had

I’m taking it as it cost you 90k it must be used if it is used is it possible carthago have already covered the costs on the warranty work and the dealers made a hash of it .

if you post the reg number on the owners club they might know the previous owner so you can find out the history of the van it may of been rejected at some point

My mates first Carthago he bought from Premium, he had them fit a Solar panel, I've never seen such a bodge, it was awful from the fitting of the panel on the roof down to the cheapo componets used.

this is not easy and I really sympathise with the OP; If i had paid 90K for a van i would be standing on the MD's of Premier's desk by now.
sorry thats not helpful, but you must be really uptight with this.

Hi all paid deposit on bank transfer wouldn’t let us do a card and rest on a transfer now I now why it’s 2014 had it 2 years 1 previous owner joined Carthago club today waiting for it to be authorised I’ll take some of your suggestions and try the if there open I’ll post if I get any success there members of motor ombudsman but when i phoned them they don’t cover Motorhomes only serving thanks for your suggestions
