- Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
I received a phone call yesterday morning from a company asking "if they can help with my recent road accident that wasn't my fault?" Now I'm thinking, how strange as I haven't been involved in any accident? Oh the woman on the phone was adamant that I'd been in an accident & that she can help with any claim. Anyway, I decline her kind offer & while she's still chattering on, I put the phone down. A few hours later it dawned on me. I'd attended an incident which turned out to be a double fatal, a fairly common event when your at the front line of any ambulance service. Now just recently I'd spoken to the DHSS about this incident (a long story but not really related to me) & it must have been them that sold my details to this claims company. I'm TPS registered, for those of you who don't know what this means, its a register that means companies are not allowed to cold call. It really does beggar belief that companies of this sort can operate. I mean just how much does this claim culture add to our policies each year? As for the bare faced cheek of the DHSS brigade, words fail me. I never ever give out my phone number or email address no matter how hard companies try to get them. They have no business asking me for such details but the DHSS usually do have valid reasons to ask.
