Isle D'Oleron Aire Closed - grrrrr (1 Viewer)

So we arrived earlier to find the Aire at Boyardville we had planned to stay at doesnt open until Saturday - no mention of 'possibly closed out if season' in all the aires book grrrrrr

We needed hook up as the vehicle battery is playing up and i wanted to make sure we can start in the morning !!

We moved on to St Denis D'Oleron and found a swarm of motorhomes (if that is the collective term ...) there's at least 30 here !! Electricty included on former campsite with toilets, showers (untested) @ €12 for 24 hours.

At least its warm !!

We found quite a few closed or moved aires not updated in the latest All the Aires book. We don’t rely on it, only a few of the main route aires are visited regularly and many aires hadn't been visited in over 5 years!
We use Campercontact and Camperstop, our favourite being Camperstop. Both are more up to date with better quality reviews and many more aires listed.

Usually stay at St Denis ,when the barrier isn't playing games showers ehu we found all ok and good bike rides around the island .

It will not help you now, but the online version of camper contact does at least show it as closed till 2nd April

looks nice, we like this Motorhome Parking group, they always seem to have well maintained facilities

A few photos. Its a large aire which can accomodate a lot of MHs. Grass parking and plenty of electric points. Each post has 4 outlets. No adapters required as they are standard fittings. Will check the showers and toilets after coffee !!

I think it means we will be shouted at .... possibly in french ? Or even put a nasty note under the windscreen wipers ...

Toilets thenselves are just a bank of toilet cubicles, very similar standard to the showers and wash basins. Very basic but adequate.

We've now moved onto Le Chateau D'Oleron. Its not as posh as it sounds though.... there must be at least 60 MHs on here including a lot of big 'units'. The services are adequate BUT its not a site i would recommend other than if everywhere else was full and you needed electric hook up. 11 Euros a night and has showers, toilets etc in fact everything an old campsite would have but all the facilities are 'looking tired'. Its a 2 min walk to the beach but no dogs allowed.
I hope my vehicle battery arrives on time ..... then its back to free aires
