Sent off my new licence details with fingers heavily crossed after reading the many problems experienced by members.But I need not have worried my new licence was back in 10 days with all categories as requested.Well done DVLA,seems only right to give praise when it is due,especially with all the bad press they get.Now to get that ferry booked,merry Christmas DVLA.

Yep, I second that. Mine was returned in 5 days a week or so ago and I was ready for a nail biting wait. Maybe late November early December is a good time to apply as they do not wont a backlog to develop over Xmas/New Year period.

I will third that,,less than 10 days..I think the biggest problem is making a mistake somewhere filling the forms in,,My Doctor filled mine in and all i had to do was sign,,BUSBY

Nar you are just trying to wind us up.
Anything that is straight forward doesn't require brain power and "computer says yes" they can cope with. Anything out of the ordinary that requires the slightest bit of brain power like personal imports and they go totally to pot.

Phoned on Thursday for a V5 copy for car they said 3/5 working days, arrived yesterday ,Monday.

I had phoned on about 20th Nov to rquest C1 Licence Application pack(D2/D4) be sent to Poland and it took 15 minutes to get an affirmative reply.

Yesterday 4th Dec it had not arrived; I phoned again and it took 10 mins. before they could tell me it was despatched on 21st Nov. It maybe postal delay.

My point is that the front-line personnel do not seem to have knowledge and information at their fingertips to answer simple questions.

I am also a fan of the DVLA. 18 months ago I had an accident and could not drive for 6 months. During those 6 months both my C1 and normal licence ran out. They kept in touch and sent me my licence just before my time was up so that we could take a planned trip on my first drive-able day. Showed genuine sympathy.

Quite likely a similar postal service to that that the HMRC & DSS use to the EU which generally takes between 2-4 weeks.
