Basically, any sort of LPG, whether Autogas from a pump, or Calor in a bottle is very hard to find currently.

Don't know which side of spondon you are but if you are any where near uttoxeter, the shell garage usually has some even if it says not on the gas app things.
It's on the first uttoxeter roundabout on the a50 from derby.
Wish I'd read that before I drove past on Saturday. 🤪

It doesn’t feel like it from what I can see on our route.

They’re just keeping it under a euro a litre here in Spain.

Thank for all your responses; it's very helpful. We are new to motorhomes and our first one has the refill system. I have about quarter of one tank left and plans for trips coming up, so just preparing but it's disconcerting that the number of LPG pumps is so low. We found one at Asda, Spondon in Derby (don't tell anyone 😎) but they've been sold out for weeks. Another contribution to the issue is that because overseas travel has been so risky, we're all staycationing and LPG has been in high demand. Nevertheless, the filling stations are few and getting fewer from what I've read. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Asda gets topped up soon or I'm going to have to drive some big miles to get some. Many, if not all of the Exxon Mobile stations have been taken over by Esso but the ones I've phoned has dropped LPG. I just wasn't prepared for that but I'm hopeful things will work out. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again. Kev
Hi garage Cambridge Rd. Whetstone nr cosby/blaby

Spotted this thread so thought I’d check and the two local garages I normally use have both stopped which is a right pain. One of them is the garage at Podimore on the A303 (Ilchester bypass). Can’t even see the M5 services at Exeter coming up which was usually a good one for the Topsham rally. This is the myLPG app

It looks like the service station on the A303 at Podimore is only out of stock, not gone for good.
It's my normal filling point on my way to Cornwall.

It means they now have a near monopoly!
In the 300 miles of the A303/A30 from the M3 to Lands End, there are only two places that 'may' sell LPG.
Podimore and the (eastbound only) Murco station at Winterborn Stoke.

Considering the tens of thousands of motorhomes and caravans that go down to the West Country each summer, someone is missing a trick.

It should be noted that Marquis Motorhomes at Exeter, which is only slightly off the route, also sell LPG.

Sellers of LPG in the West Country are few and far between, with only two in the entire of Cornwall, which could mean a 200+ miles round trip to fill up with LPG if you were camping near Penzance.

It says out of order and I know last year one side kept going wrong and they were struggling to get spare parts as on a couple of occasions I chatted to the repair man! Fortunately the hose on the other side is long enough to pull through.
He said then there was talk of it being removed as they sell so little so hopefully I’m just being a doom merchant.

Thanks for the tip about Marquis Motorhomes.

Glad I got 2 x 11Kg bottles as they last me forever, only used one in 3 months outings, just cracked the 2nd open 🤷‍♂️
Saying that we have 3 lpg shops within a couple mile of each other, from 76-99p a litre so no worries there (Cannock)

Having a gas station near home would be good but our time is involved with travelling and the time gaps between fill-ups can be quite long. Our local camp site sell gas as do several others who may not all be on LPG lists.
The Lakes ... Henlow open until 2 pm daily and Greenhill Park Bearley Near Stratford on Avon are just two of them.

I like it Jock, it’s much easier to see stations not in my area. I’m on iPhone and it’s not in the Apple Store and it says you can add it to your Home Screen from your Safari browser. I have failed to work out how. I have bookmarked it for future use though. If anyone knows how to get it on my Home Screen I’d be grateful for help. Thanks.

Ooh, I’ll put it on Nick’s. It’s a bit early . I’m off to Southampton to get the sliding door on the van fixed!

Is anyone else finding the Autogas LPG locator App hopelessly inaccurate lately?

I used a quarter of a tank of diesel travelling between 5 different garages and an LPG specialist (Cardiff Gas) and only the very last one had any stock, even though on the app they all did and I couldn't see a way to amend the status to warn others.

Cardiff gas told me they can't buy LPG and just had a 42 ton order cancelled on them!
Another Cardiff member here. Just fitted a refillable in my van, where did you eventually find some please?

Thanks Jock, Martin tells me that “the fault” I describe ie the lever that has always released the sliding door when it is open so that we can close it from the inside is a figment of my imagination! Despite the fact that it has been working for 3 and a half years and worked the same on our previous van. At the moment we have to get out of the van to release it from the outside with the main door handle. He has said he’ll take it into the work shop to have a proper look. I told him I thought that might be a good idea as that was why I’d driven for 1 and three quarter hours to bring it in!

He didn’t quite use those words but that was the implication.

Trago Mills in Newton Abbot still has LPG. They were out of stock for a while, and being that it's a Shell station, I thought they might be getting rid of it by now, but I saw someone filling up their LPG-converted car just a couple of weeks ago whilst I was there.

It's just the internal door handle what a plonker  seems he just don't want to do it as he may need to take the internal door panels off but it's probably just a washer or something good luck

For anyone approaching Cornwall from the M5 Morrison's at Cribbs Causeway Bristol normally has LPG currently 0.797/ltr or if not Patchway Asda nearby sells LPG but the pump is temporarily out of order at the moment.

Check out Safefill.co.uk they have a collaboration going on with Morrisons, I live in Runcorn and went to the Morrisons in St Helen’s it was about 70p/litre. About a 20 mile round trip. Less than a litre of petrol in Kathryn’s Toyota Aygo.

Cheers!

I went to this Morrisons about 10 days ago. The apps said it had lpg but did not in fact. I was directed to Norgas at the back of St Helens RL ground. It had LPG, not cheap! but some bad reviews although I had no problems

Dont rely on any LPG App, even with recent reviews as they are not all up to date with the state of play. Call the garage before you make a de-tour just to check they have stock and the pump is in action.
I don't rely on Podimore on our travels south along The A303 as they seem to be mostly out of stock most of the time, however on the link road from the A303 to the M5 heading west or coming home on The A358 there is the Somerset Motor Home Centre, with it garage frontage that has its own LPG pump.
The other old favourite is The Texaco Garage A303 at Sparkford (beside the Matia Dinner Cafe), or The Shell Garage off the M3 at junc 4A come off and head towards Farnorough/Fleet Shell Autogas beside a Premier Inn.
