I'm considering a bathroom refurb / upgrade and wondering if anyone knows how these door and hinge fittings come apart.
The only way seems to be to lever them out, but with brittle plastic that might not end well ?
Anyone had any experience ?
TIA

If it was mine, no experience of this type though, I would use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the plastic, making sure a large area is warmed up around the fitting, then use a wooden or plastic tool to gently coaxe it away. This is, if it definitely prizes out.

When I’ve removed mine I carefully lever and flex with a flat blade screw driver where arrowed until the small pin pops out. The spacer have the pins moulded in.
on one of my doors part of the hole broke , so I stuck a piece of plastic in the corner and drilled a new hole.

Can I ask how you intend to do the refurb, ie replacement parts or spraying? I have the same yellowing units and I would be interested to see how others have got on.

I wondered if using a stanley knife to cut off the bit of plastic that goes from the spacer through the door.
Then for refitting, replace with a self tapper into the spacer, would that work ?

If I can get the doors and draws off, I plan to just spray paint with rattle cans in trendy shades of grey ?
I've also watched some videos on youtube of guys using the spray stone granite effect paints in rattle cans and they then coat in clear epoxy resin. So I might give those a try in limited locations. One of the problems with the epoxy is it runs off until set, unless horizontal so I might try it on the flat sections that can be laid flat.

I’ve removed mine several times for accessing under the sink and never had a problem just spring the door off the pin.

Personally I would never paint any of my vans internals as once done it cannot be undone and for me the original look is better than someone else’s thoughts on how it looks better, I prefer the untouched original look!
Yes even with the yellowing plastic, that is what it does, way of life I’m afraid! :giggle:

Noooo. I sprayed mine in a nice light grey, much nicer to look at and looks hygienic now too.
My BIL sells MH’s and I’ve sprayed loads of washrooms for him.
A yellow suite is definitely a no go for many of his buyers.
😊

Hi yes pics would be good to see how it turns out, Good luck

They are a ´flex´fit, as another poster said, you need to carefully flex the door edge until the pin pops out, good luck if the plastic has gone brittle, be prepared to repair ...............🫰
