A Bit
We travel with our 2 Weimaraner's 1 at 42 Kilos the other about 25 the last time we weighed them and more often than not have my sisters 2 Guinea Pigs as well (she reckons they are Shi Tzu, Bichon Frise cross dogs but they look more like big Guinea pigs to me) no issues in our 8 metre van and think they would be fine in a much smaller one.
(they are a bit bigger than this now as you may see by my avatar pic but I just found this old photo on my PC and loved it)

We have two border collies at 25kg, so equivalent to one large dog. Dogs seem ti be able to fit in any space, in one case in the back of a suzuki alto our toad with four people in it. Only a short journey luckily.

Beautiful dog and looks so like our Retriever/s.poodle ... see pic. He’s only 1 and we’ve done two uk trips with him in our 7 metre Autocruise (which is now for sale!) . As much as he loved it and so did we, we found uk weather and large dog in Moho not that enjoyable although it all went reasonably well.... except after his evening dinner he has a naughty hour and trying to amuse/distract in the moho when it’s p****** down outside is no joke! Take him for a walk I said... then he comes back soaked and wet towels in mohos don’t work that well. So we’ve decided we’ll use our Merc Estate, hire a cottage? and do that!!!! Fab fun!!!!

Hopefully newfpark Anne will see this. She travels in a PVC with two Italian Spinones, they are lovely dogs.

She will be able to give you pros and cons.
I travel with 2 Italian Spinones in a PVC. People think they are large dogs, but after downsizing from Newfoundland’s I do not think of them being large.
I find larger dogs easy to travel with, they are normally quite laid back.
You need to research the breed.
The only problem is wet weather, I have drying towels so you are not trying to dry towels.
Mine spent 4 weeks in Europe in June, always plenty people wanting to stroke them.

We use microfibre towels for the dogs. They dry quickly (the towels not the dogs), but we don't tour in the UK so don't get too much rain usually however twice this year in Spain we have had torrential rain.

Sorry to hear of your loss, we have a jack Russell and although he’s small in size he’s big in personality and takes up more room than both of us.
We’re currently on a campsite in the south of France and another British van here has 6 or 7 small dogs with them, no matter their size that’s far to many in my opinion.

we travel with our 3 staffies, Ceran & Merlin being 20kg range, but Ronnie is labrador size at 30kg plus. We wouldn't be without them, but they can really get in the way in the van
Lab size, lol, @Big1, mine is 40kg, you saying he is a fat boy :)

Last week in Grau, we parked next to a French motorhome. They had their pets outside for a bit of exercise. They had two small tortoises!

It was lovely to meet you Jay0911 yesterday at Jim's stand at the NEC.
Good luck with your search for your next travelling companion.
My motorhome feels very empty without Tilly, my JRT, who left me last month. ?
I'll eventually rescue another pooch but I'll be sticking to the smaller versions!
Hiya, aww thank you, that was lovely meeting you too. I didn't get to meet Jim in the end ? im sure I will one day lol.

Good luck when you do start looking for another pooch, it will most probably be a rescue we get next too.

That was a great show, we clocked up over 13k steps each walking around that bugger ? its one blooming big show.

I have 5 dogs in my sub 6m van, 1 human, we all blend in together, and all enjoy cuddles, which is just as well, two big ones are 30kgs, and don't mind the smaller ones using them as hit water bottles! Love it, don't deny yourself pure joy

We have 3 Bernese Mountain dogs in an Autotrail Dakota, it gets smelly when we’re all confined inside but wouldn’t be without any of them!

aww, sorry to hear of your loss....

yes we travel with our two miniature poodles, Tara and Betty Bear(s) they only weigh 65kg each so we have a tag axle 5.5t motorhome to accommodate them.
They have loved coming away with us in the snow and sun for years. Although Sadly Tara now 12 struggles to get in the van she does come sometimes. She has had jobs as Fun Marshal and security over the years. Alas, though she is feeling her age now but still lovely. Betty, is only 4 and full of life.

go for it I say, your dog will fit in to your lifestyle regardless. drago35uk has three of the most gorgeous Bernease Mountain dogs in a reasonable sized van. They fit, and that's that.
We have 3,Bears Elvis ,Bonnie and Jessie . Newfies are the most wonderful dogs to travel with

So sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy. He looked like he loved life. We travel with 4 Cockapoos and a wheelchair. Its worked really well so far....apart from a really, really wet trip to Scotland this time last year. We came home early!

Thanks again for all the lovely comments everyone. We have now rescued a lovely boy, 3 years old, not a giant breed but pretty large and VERY soppy. He hasn't yet seen too much of the world but that's all about to change for him.

Thank you Nikki, his name is Duke, I thought about changing it but he responds so we'll to it, I didn't think it would be fair. He was imported from hungary as a pup so he has a passport and papers too so he can travel around Europe straight away ?
