Hopefully no Scandi drama for us, tak tack takk

so it's not all murder and mayhem like the TV shows!!

Anthea, I think murderous intent might be heightened during those long long winter nights. :)

Safe travels! It looks a wonderful place to visit.

Beaten to it by Anthea (as usual!) , I know you will have a great time @moulin87 .

Yes you could be right!! Does the light nights affect your sleep pattern?! I'll be at home there! Up at 3.30am!!

Heading to the Atlantic road we stop off overnight near Kristiansund in a little parking spot near Averoy.

This area is very motorhome friendly, lots of places to stop for a cup of tea and to admire the views.

We head over this beautiful bridge , it's the main feature of the Atlantic road. We are in a queue to cross as a film crew are on the bridge.

Stopping for lunch turns into stopping the night, we managed to see this great sunset.

Is it worth us driving it? Or shall I just keep looking at your photos?

Save yourself the trouble, live vicariously through our trip and put the money towards a couple of new bikes

It doesn't seem to get dark, it stays 'dusky' and it's easy to think it's early evening until you check your watch !

Maybe you are Scandinavian Anthea :).

After the Atlantic road we are off to the Trolls Path today, Trollstigen on the map.

Our guide book tells us it's a thrill of a climb or a descent. It's about 12km to the top the route we are going, much of it is single track road with passing places and it has 11 hairpin bends.

The road across only opened for the season last Wednesday as it has to be cleared of snow and the risk of avalanches. At the top there is an amazing visitor centre where we take a photo of part of the road we have come up.

There is even a single carriage bridge through a waterfall on the route. The visitor centre encourages everone to enjoy the space and the views.

After this we head on towards Geirangerford , a fjord where cruise ships come to visit.

See those boats on that fjord? We plan to end up somewhere near where they are and maybe stay the night.

Mission accomplished :)

Norway, what we have noticed so far, this might be useful to @jumartoo , @DavidG58 , @moulin 87 and others travelling this way,

Fuel prices change a lot ! Bizarrely it is always cheaper on a Sunday and it is most expensive on a Wednesday.

Credit cards are widely accepted (presumably as everything is expensive !).

There is fjord ferry etiquette, there are numbered rows and these load in strict order. If someone has accidentally left a gap at the end of an earlier row, don't join it to "fill the gap" , it offends the locals

There are lots of motorhome dump points, most of these seem to be free from what we have experienced. Sometimes they are at the side of a supermarket, they mostly are clearly signed.

It's a lovely place to visit and there are a lot of Norwegian motorhomes.

Thanks "roving reporter" on your first informative report.

Have you been upsetting the locals?

Have you been upsetting the locals?

On our first fjord ferry we 'neatened' up the car queue by parking in a space at the end of lane1 when lane 2 had already started filling up.
A Norwegian lorry driver blew his very loud and garish horns at us :blusher:

We have learnt a valuable lesson.

It looks amazing @Jenben , are you using a camera for the photos? The detail is stunning:)

Why shucks Debs thanks for your kind comment. In answer to your question, I am using a camera on the back of a 3 year old budget smartphone.

We do have proper photographic equipment, it is currently sat on a shelf at home.:)

I know it's "expensive" but would love to know the total cost at the end - just for planning & saving purposes.
And not because you are an honorary NMC member?;)

Seriously, I'd be interested too as it has looked fab and not sure if it's something I could stretch to:)

Just been reviewing how far you have got in how many days to see if I can resurrect my Norway trip this year, you do seem to have made good distance but at fairly relaxed pace (y)

many thanks for the updates, tempting and useful in equal measures :)(y)
Would you rather I put a 'like' David?

I put informative because I found it informative that based on Carolyn's trip you were reconsidering the Scandi trip. Why don't you just do Denmark?

I am keeping a note of how much we have paid to stay places on our overnights and can let you know how much we spent on ferries, road tolls and our mileage.

Once we are back I will do my sums and put it on this thread.

because they don't have mountains and fjords in Denmark :):)(y)(y)

the informative comment followed a discussion we had at Thetford, I see it as 'whatever', don't really know why, but also don't see what it is there for, a like or a useful cover it, only me being picky in one of my grumpier periods

I like it as it says 'thanks for the information' to me! Not 'whatever' like 'Kevin'!!

I beg to differ (see below)

If it meant whatever it would look like this

Hope this helps

yes please :LOL::LOL:

how was it informative? o_O

edit - even Anthea has liked it, not her normal 'funny' :):)(y)
I thought it was informative that you're still hoping you can get there this year;)

I like you all you know, I love reading what you post and often find you very informative. Sometimes you are also useful so thanks for taking interest in our Scandi trip :)

Ps. We are now parked by a GLACIER .

Not sure I want to see it before we go!!!

I think from reading your comments @DavidG58 that you may not be coming to Norway this year, I must have missed it elsewhere?

I had carefully annotated my map just for you to use :crying1: .

I think you are probably correct, going to give it one more go at revising the logistics tonight, but think the western isles will win this year

it does mean a beach horse ride for Bev on her birthday is looking good, although I was rather dismayed to find that not only was it a great desire of hers, her dream also includes me riding alongside her o_Oo_O

watch this space, or rather my revised travel plans to see what happens

really appreciate what you were doing for us though and will enjoy a debrief at Shrewsbury regardless (y)

@DavidG58 gold star for you David & think of all those brownie points:D2x
