I'm a newbie
Going to Europe for the first time in motorhome. Do we need an adapter for our hook up cable or are the connections 3 pins the same as UK.

Adapter is essential. About 50% of the time you'll need it, possibly even higher in Spain.

We have an adaptor but I think this is the first year we have never needed it in over thirty years of touring France. I'll still take it next time though.

Must be a Spain thing then, I know I use ours a lot but we only pass through France to Spain ?

Its strange isnt it, in the 20 years Ive been going to Europe I think Ive only been able to hook up without an adaptor 4 times, I think it depends on the site your going to.
Definitely take a two pin adapter.

Depends on how much power you are going to use, play safe and wire a two pin euro plug to a short lead with a cee socket. Much more reliable and probably safer. If you are going to use aires buy a cee splitter (1 male to 2 female) every Frenchman, and me, seem to carry one.

We are defiantly using Aires travelling through France, Spain and Portugal so I will look into that. Thanks.

I've seen the wiring in Aires :giggler: so don't bother connecting, we can manage perfectly OK on solar though, it's great to be independent.

By an adapter I presume you mean a '2-pin' European plug, a short bit of cable, and a blue 3-pin socket. As in Zigisla's link. That's what you need.

It's possible to buy an all-in-one-piece adapter that plugs into a European socket. However they are often no use, because the connection box often has a door that's supposed to close to keep out the weather. The one-piece adapters stop the door closing, so you can't use them.
