I suppose it could be a case of Bad Timing, but here goes, I have a Honda 2 stroke generator that starts but when running it is uneven (Hunting)
We will be in Nottinghamshire soon visiting relatives, can I get it sorted there.
Please no suggestions that include the wording, skips, rubbish, bins, etc.
This is a serious question.

Sounds like fuel starvation.

Check and clean any filters.
failing that it may be a partial blockage in the fuel line/carburetor needle valve.
also, try a new plug if the existing is quite old.

It will have some sort of governor to hold constant revs. If you can find any linkages give them an oiling and clear out dead leaves etc.

First question. Are you using fuel that has been left in the tank/can over the winter?
A 2stroke mix does not keep well and will cause poor starting and rough running as the best part of the petrol will have evaporated.

A tip I was given on my genny was to use an airline to blow out the air ways/needle valves.
Only took a minute and worked a treat(y)

Must be fuel starvation (y)

As above post.

Thanks to all the above replies, will give suggestions a try, and if successful I will promise not to turn up at any Funster meet with it.

Ditto....Honda are the kings of small 4 strokes, from lawn mowers to outboard motors. Interested to see the spec of a 2stroke gene. ( mine which is hardly ever used is a Honda 4stroke starts first time every time..)

They did a EX350 as well, if its not beed used for a wile the pilot & main jet can get a build up of crud from stale fuel & 2t oil.

@jumar There is a place in Lorca does excellent work & not dear.
If you know where the Thurday market is in the Huerta La Rueda ( foreigners ofice is in there as well now ) Stand with back to main entrance facing roundabout; straight across down turning with olive place on corner; 200m to bottom; turn right & 50 m on right is " Ibarra",the agricultural suppliers machinery shop. Suppl/fix anything there.

Thanks Gus for this info. I'll drop it down there in a couple of weeks when back in Totana from UK.

Make sure the fuel is fresh, correct oil mix, clean plug, start and run with a 3/4 load for a while to get nice and hot and burn out crud. Dont let it tick over for long periods.
