Hi all,
Fairly new to the site and a first posting. I’ve got a Burstner Ixeo TL. Been sat pretty much on the drive since purchased!
is it ok to just leave it on hook up to the house supply? I’m assuming the batteries (factory fitted) can cope with this?
Also, I would like to get a solar panel but there’s not much room on the roof, apart from the curve at the front. Considering a tracking panel that folds flat during driving. Seen it on the Vanbitz site. Any tips or ideas appreciated.
Thanks.

Yes its fine to leave it on hookup, What tye of onboard charger is it? is it 20 amp and what ah battery is it supplied with 95ah maybe.
That charger will be fine for that battery (if lead acid)

Im sure there will be space for a panel up there, which yes can then take care of your leisure battery if you get some sunshine and a good mppt controller

Thanks for the reply.
Really not sure what charger it has. Factory fitted, whatever Burstner use?

If it helps, you can buy the blue and white female sockets and set one up so you can use the same powerline as on the campsites, without an adapter.

I'd fit a 3 stage maintenance charger for home long term use. Ours is only capable of delivering 0.8amps so if the battery gets a shorted cell like ours did in 2019 the charger won't be throwing 20 amps into it for hours or days... They get hot ♨️

Mine's been plugged in since I last pulled onto the drive... 4th Nov 2020
Never expected to be parked up for so long.

I hope it will be ok, I have had my Ixeo IT 680 on hook up since Mid September.
Used the fridge on 230V for an extended period over Christmas.

I have always left my Motorhomes on the home hook up. Never had any issues. We leave the heating set at 7C over winter keeps the van nice and dry.
I installed a proper hook up plug with a fused 13A feed T'd into the house ring main which has RCD protection.

No problem at all. I would leave it on for a couple of days then turn it off for a week or so.

Yes -should take it off every now and again. Just constantly charging is not good for the battery. It needs to be used, or run down slightly to stay healthy.
