That's quite odd really, The only person I knew to say 'duck' or more usually 'ducks' was my paternal grandmother. She was of Welsh parents although brought up in South London. My other grandmother grew up in Lancashire but the family came from Spalding.

My farrier was born and bred in Lincs and always greets me with “duck”.
It’s well used in Lincs 😉

Well - we have had numerous conversations over the years on this forum about how people from here or there say to greet others and in my case it's usually allo luv. Were I still working in Newcastle under Lyme, it would be 'allo duck.
