So it looks like I’ve sold my van 😎 and I’ve found a motorhome I want to purchase , how ever it seems £4-5k undervalued
So I’ve checked today via a HPi check and using the registration on the van it is coming out as a Peugeot Boxer 2018
The motorhome I am looking at is a Elddis Encore 254 2018 on a Peugeot chassis

Should the HPi say Elddis Encore, I’ve checked my registration on my camper and it says what it is
Thanks in advance
Steve

It will come up with the base chassis, I.e. Peugeot. I have a swift kontiki 650 but if you did a hpi search it will state a Fiat ducato

Thanks Adrian, that’s what I thought BUT if I put my registration of my sunlight cliff 640 , it comes up with that NOT a Fiat Ducato !

Do you see my predicament

Ours is an Elddis accordo but it's a Peugeot Boxer on the V5 👍

It depends on what is put on the V55 when registering the vehicle.
I've imported all mine so registered them myself, first Hymer I registered as a Fiat Ducato the last two as Hymer.

Thanks Lenny, not sure if I’m over thinking this just seems a bit weird, I would have thought all dealers would at least put their mark on it (Elddis, swift)
Thanks for to info

DVLA guidelines say you should put the base vehicle but in practice they accept either. So strictly speaking the ones registered as Elddis have been incorrectly registered.

I'd have thought the registration should always be linked to the base vehicle.

When you use the registration to find compatibility for parts "elddis' ect is useless. Also if no chassis info is linked to the reg number speed camera operators won't know what you are actually driving 🤔 maybe a good thing then 😜

From the outset my reg number couldn't be recognized for 3 years now the put your number here is still pot luck, more likely to be wrong than right. Even getting the year correct is a toss of the dice. Vin number is a better option.

Just as a footnote tread carefully if it’s priced below market value. Scammers everywhere!

If you want Peugeot spare parts for your van it's best registered as a Peugeot. What brake discs would you need for a 2018 eldiss encore??
I have an eldiss 175 autoquest and mine comes up as a black peugeot boxer, which is the correct base vehicle.

That is weird, must just be how that vehicle was registered

Mine just comes up as "Fiat".
I wonder if it can be sent off and changed ? Not that I would do it, but just wondering.
The log book I mean not the van 😉

Thanks Colino,
It seems it depends info on the Dealer puts in

I think mine is registered as the base chassis too. On the pricing they recon last month saw the biggest drop in house prices for a year it could be motorhome prices are headed the same way or someone needs the cash fast.

Hi Wino,
I did think that but looking online there are more negative than positive comments about the supposed dealer so I am using my gut to rule my heart on this occasion lol

Just another example that DVLA will put down anything they are told regardless of their guidelines, and they often get that what they are told incorrect when entering the data.

If prices are softening you might be better sitting on the cash

Don't even need to put the engine number they accept "unknown" which is what all my vans have had on the V5.

Thanks for all of your help everyone

I’ve decided “if it’s to good to be true” then it’s to good to be true, there are to many red flags and my gut is saying walk away.

The search goes on 😎
Do you have a link to the vehicle?

Gsadv1 When I purchased my 2007 second-hand Murvi, 5yrs ago, I was not surprised to read on the V5 that it read, under

(D.3) Model. Ducato 33 120 M-JET LWB

However, I was surprised to read that, after so many years and coming from a reputable Converter as MURVI, it still read, under

(D.5) Body Type PANEL VAN

(I quickly, with a lot of photographs etc., had that changed to MOTOR CARAVAN)

(X) Taxation class PRIVATE/LIGHT GOODS (PLG)

That is because a lot of small Converters buy in pre registered vans.
