We have a B524 and the water and heating control consists of a control knob which controls the gas side of hot water and heating, also there is a switch below this which is a rocker type and there is 240v printed next to it can anyone tell me what it should do, does it switch the heating and hot water to electric as apposed to gas.

It switches the HW to electric. It can be used at the same time as gas for a rapid HW heat up.
