Is it Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Prepaid Cards or just good old cash that gives you the funds to buy Diesel, Food and a glass of beer or two?

No doubt your views do differ as do the pro's and con's of each method of paying!

So lets hear suggestions on best ways to pay.

I use Revolut and Starling cards everywhere I go

Some cash needed sometimes in certain bars 👍

We joined Revolute before the Pandemic but had no use for it. Also get 100s of emails. Taken the account to zero now to close it. We will take cask and use our Santander card if we ever get back to France/Spain

Cashback credit card (with net rates and no exchange charges) every time whenever possible.

Only use cash as a last resort.

Revolut (excellent), some cash and a Nationwide fee free credit card for emergencies.

Germany, oddly, prefer hard cash.
Many shops and restaurants don't accept cards, particularly in the east.

Scandinavia is the reverse, many restaurants and bars don't take cash.
That's useful to know 👍

A melange of € notes, French Account Debit Card, Nationwide Credit Card depending on the amount and the Exchange Rate. Pre pandemic, we used to visit the Pawnbrokers on each occasion the Exchange Rate rose and buy between £100 & £300 at a time. The last trip saw us carrying around £1500 in € notes; as soon as we arrived at our French hovel, we visited Credit Mutuel to deposit the notes to keep the balance topped up and enable us to wait longer before transferring larger amounts of funds direct to Credit Mutuel via the Currency Brokers.

Cash , Revolut,Spanish bank cards especially for use in France, debit cards for UK credit cards for anything likely to get reclaimed .
With cash anything is possible.

Nationwide flex Credit card, no transaction fees (currently) just exchange rates. Also cash for small purchases, and Italy who seem to only like cash!
