Just wondering how you are getting on in lockdown.
I did not get my bonce cut before lockdown.
And starting to look like one of the worsels.
How's everone going on.
The daughter did say she would have a go but I declined ?

Well I confess - I ordered some £50 dog clippers from Amazon picking them up at the post office.

I clipped Tom and Jerry, then my husband and then finally myself (hubby helped at the back)

Dogs look fine - short cut all over with scissors around their face, Dave short at side with blade extenders on top with the same for me plus scissored fringe and round ears.

Does it look like I have been to a hairdresser - no but it is much tidier and hair no longer sticking up everywhere. Went to work yesterday and no one gave me a strange look or made a comment so result!

Would let your daughter have a go with clippers with blade extender and some sharp scissors - what’s the alternative ending up looking like a yeti?

:giggle:

I haven't had a haircut for over 2 months. I look just like this o_O

Rosemary you did the dogs first you must really must love your hubby not to practice on him first ?

Jim am not very good with the tec.

Taran have you been following me taking pics of my bonce ?

Plenty of howto videos on YouTube, I got some clippers and let my wife have a go at my hair turned out pretty good. I doubt I will go to a barber again.
Just think of the dosh you'll save to spend on 'toys' for the MH! :giggle:

I have a confession to make ... I reluctantly cut my Mum's hair yesterday ... o_O ... I've been doing it for a few years now since she decided not to have perms anymore but she's been nagging for ages for me to trim it to get rid of the straggly bits after she had a 'chop' herself however due to SD and her being 95 I've been keeping my distance, but couldn't put it off anymore.

We were outside with her deck chair but she wouldn't sit in front of the flats despite there only being one chap outside enjoying the sunshine (about 40ft away) so she dragged her chair round the rear so she couldn't be 'seen' by her neighbours twitching out of their windows (not that they'd care!) ... you'd think I was gonna strip her naked!

It wasn't ideal as it was windy at the rear so put myself downwind of her, fitted my mask (can't remember the name but it's one of the moulded ones with a breather valve) and used my scissors and comb to do the job, not touching her with my hands at all. It was going well but behind the flats is a park/sports ground and just as I started doing it a family with a toddler walked past the fence and the kiddie saw us and was waving and shouting in joy at seeing someone else ... so much for Mum not having an audience.

I'm just surprised to find that my hair still grows! Oh yes, last haircut was on 24th February, so I'm now starting to look a little (well, quite a lot!) shaggy. I have no intention of trying to cut it myself, so I'm regarding it as a bit of a project to see how long it gets before a barber scythes it away in the indeterminate future. Who knows, it may be a pony tail yet!

Immediately after the lockdown we tried to buy hair clippers. We ordered a set from eBay without noticing the Chinese address.

Their original estimate of three weeks turned into seven but, when they arrived, they seem to be of good quality. Both of us have now cut each other’s hair and they look OK.

At £29.99 they seem as good as the £60 Remington we left at our place in France.

I am rapidly approaching the time when I can save even more money by simply buying a can of Pledge and a duster.

Same here (y)

In "normal times" I have my full head of hair cut twice a year, April and October.

With all this CV19 carry on's, haven't had mine cut since October. BUT! I have never been one for short hair anyway since I left the Services.

Got a bit of a mop now I must admit, keep it "managed" with Maureen's VO5 hair gel.

I went online and ordered a cordless electric clipper. The results were not bad - I might never go to a barber again!

VO5 hair gel?

What the hell is this World coming to? :giggle:

I did Martin's with clippers - I told him it would grow back, and it has. I'll have to do it again.

I am like Crystal Tips (but not so curly) and have just used clips to hold it back off my face.

I managed 8 weeks from my last cut (usually 3 or 4 weeks) ... got fed-up with it getting so thick and resorted to a No 3 with my clippers. Now feels like I should be back in the fire service.

Once a year I nip down to Lincoln and have a session with Jim`s barber... :Eeek: :Eeek::wink::rofl:

Already had some Wahl trimmers with a wide range of add on trimming combs as have sheared some of the male members of our family for many years but being a "lady" :blusher: have never even considered doing my own! Around seven weeks after my last visit to the hairdressers it had got to the point where cutting it could only make it look better & knowing that it would grow again (mine grows fast & thick so needs trimming every 3 weeks) plus due to lockdown we weren't going out anywhere soon I took the plunge. Not going to post any photos but have to say it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be & with practise might look quite presentable. Had to get Mr Wombles to trim the back bottom neck edge with scissors & I did trim round my ears with scissors too but otherwise just used a No. 10 comb fitted on the trimmers for all over & could even reach the back. Have since found a no. 12 comb for next time so not as extreme & don't think it would even look like trimmers have been used then. It is messy even with a hairdressing robe on (I did cut a lot off) & made the mistake of trimming my fringe with the trimmer (should have kept the length & tidied with scissors) but happy overall. If anyone does think of doing this then start with the highest number comb - most UK Wahl sets only come with up to no. 8 comb but well worth buying no. 12 if going for a more feminine cut https://www.wahl.co.uk/product/black-plastic-attachment-comb/ from £4.13 plus £4 delivery (14 day delivery atm) or free delivery if spending over £10. If you scroll down that web page & "Subscribe" to emails from Wahl then get sent a 10% discount code. I used the trimmers on dry hair but did wet the hair edges for scissor cutting - hairs does shrink back shorter when dry though so something to bear in mind!

Am going to have a go again in the next couple of weeks as a bit more confident now. My hair had got the the stage it had to look better afterwards!
