We got home Sunday night to find the house had been burgled, as the advert says it's not what they take its the fact they have been in the house and through your stuff.

Not sure if the large camper disappearing from the drive was the sign they needed to say the house is now empty

New alarm fitted to the house along with nice neighbours we are doing a key swap with.

And one last kick where it hurts the house insurance had run out and they had not sent out a reminder ( ps my wife works for them as we'll )

Police were and are very helpful though. Fingers cross they catch them

Matt

I too worry about the MoHo going missing when were away, I usually get my son to stay while we are on holiday.
Hope there's not too much gone missing. We were burgled by 'travellers' that don't travel as we watched them thrash my works van around on the local gypsy camp via tracker.

Commiserations - hope the police find them

Sorry to hear that, hope they didn't take too much or make much of a mess.

Sorry to hear about your break in, hope you get sorted quickly......
There are some low life around.

I feel for you and hope you can get over it.

Really sorry, hope everything works out. I was once told that house insurance had a grace period if you forget to renew unlike car insurance. I thought it was something they had to allow not sure if it is 14 days or 30 days? I know friends forgot to renew and they were told they were covered by this.

With the police now refusing to attend burgled premises, the chances of them being caught is low. I was burgled about 30 years ago when I lived on my own, like you, no insurance. I actually had the police and scenes of crime to visit, they didn't really seem interested till I told them I wasn't insured, then he dusted for prints. I got the impression he thought it was an insurance scam so wasn't going to bother wasting his time doing his job!
I feel for you though, it's the fact someone has been in your house rather than the loss of goods that really bothers you. I slept with a large knife by my bed for weeks afterwards....

You must feel gutted. To have a break in then find no insurance is a double blow.

Hope nothing too expensive was stolen and they catch the thieving scumbags.

It's horrible.

It's happened to me 3 times in my life.

The last time they broke in, trashed the place , nicked my car and wrapped it around a tree.

I hope the insurance works out.(y)

I know how you feel, when I lived in Gloucester I had three burglaries over a twenty-year period, cops were useless.

Nowadays I am very security conscious, I drive my partner mad .

It dont help but you hae my sympathy..
Been robbed so many times in the past. :(

I've never liked the idea of leaving my caravan on my driveway ,it's an advert as to when you are away, they would have recce the area looking for Mh, s and caravans on drive ways , when there's no Mh or caravan that equals empty house

I've never been burgled and hope that I am never burgled , my commiserations on your misfortune

So sorry for you.
Happened to us in the past too, horrible experience.
Hoping the police catches them.

That is really bad news; hope they catch the pond life that did it....

.....as we live in a semi rural area, we have had an ADT monitored alarm system for years, plus a key safe. The alarm actually works as a couple of months ago one of the cats sneaked inside and hid. The alarm went off and even though I was only the other side of the village the police were there before either of us got back. We still have class one police response (so they tell me) and a monitored alarm system might be a bit pricey but really is the way to go. Again, hope they catch the scumbags, and the scumbags try to escape and get themselves thoroughly tasered several times..........

So sorry to hear this @955matt .
I hope nothing really precious to you was taken.

We too were burgled whilst on holiday about 15 years ago and it is a horrible situation to return home to.
I hope to police come up with something. They didn't in our case :(

Really sorry to read this! Hope the insurance gets sorted!

I agree about Motorhome not on drive equals empty house, about 6 years ago our Motorhome had to go away for repair and the next night 2 rat bags tried to break into my shed, they tried the door and then removed the glass from the window, probably after my trail bikes but we surprised them before they could get in and the cheeky sods came back the next night too.
Due to it being a prefab garage I changed the window wall panel for a solid one and re-inforced the door with metal.

unfortunately this is the world of to-day , I [only] had my camper & car broken into have had a word with local thug who is making enquiries to get my things back, after I informed him [I DON'T GET MAD I GET EVEN ] HOPE YOU GET SORTED IT,S GUT WRENCHING

I think the motorhome gone is a bit of a red herring !
Most people with cars take them on their holiday's and a fair few of them get burgled .
An empty property is a target to opportunists whatever you drive.
I feel for you.
